Further evidence that the delivery of Taurus KEPD-350 cruise missiles to Ukraine remains necessary, even in light of Ukraine’s outstanding domestic developments. Since March 2026, the AFU used Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles at least four times against high-value targets. 7th of March 2026 US-supplied ATACMS and French-supplied SCALP-EG were used to heavily damage and destroy a site near the Donetsk Airport which was used by Russia for the storage, preparation, and launch of Shaheds and similar UAVs. 10th of March 2026 British-supplied Storm Shadow were used to strike and severely damage the Kremniy El microelectronics factory in Bryansk. The factory specializes in discrete semiconductor devices and integrated microchips, which are critical parts of various Russian weapon systems like Iskander missiles. 13th of April 2026 to 14th of April 2026 French-supplied SCALP-EG and US-supplied GBU-39 were used to strike and damage OWA UAV storage facilities near the Donetsk Airport. 25th of May 2026 Today, British-supplied Storm Shadows were used to destroy an important enemy command-and-control and communications post in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region. Each of these targets could also have been damaged or destroyed using Taurus KEPD-350. Indeed, the relevance of a delivery of 50 to 100 pieces from Bundeswehr stocks has declined in recent years. However, as we can see, there are still plenty of operational scenarios in which the Taurus can and should be deployed. Since stocks of SCALP-EG and Storm Shadow are not infinite either, a delivery – as promised on several occasions by the German Chancellor – remains absolutely essential. And yes, the German government has invested several hundred million euros in various Ukrainian weapons systems, thereby funding not only the production of those systems but also their further development. These include the An-196 Liutyi, which Ukraine has been successfully deploying for quite some time against targets deep within Russian territory. It’s not as if we do nothing to make such attacks possible. We do a lot. But we could and must do more.

A brief update on Skynex in #Ukraine: According to information provided by Rheinmetall CEO Papperger during today's Q3 conference call, the Skynex air defence systems supplied by Germany have now also proven themselves in the fight against Russian missiles. However, we have not yet seen any visual confirmation or received more details on the matter (I don't mean to imply that he is lying) – video footage and details of Skynex air defence systems in Ukrainian service are very rarely released and so far only shows the interception of Russian loitering munitions. Officially, Germany has so far delivered two Skynex systems to Ukraine and promised two more. Unofficially, at least one, if not both, of the promised systems should already be in service in Ukraine, as both were to be delivered by the end of 2025.

The Russian military managed to destroy another decoy of an IRIS-T SLM launcher somewhere “deep behind enemy lines” in #Ukraine. There are various indicators proving that this is only a decoy. Just to mention two: 1) After the strike — which is not even shown as it would be another proof of this being a decoy — you can clearly see that the cabin is made of some metal frame and plywood. 2) Also very visible after the strike is a tow hook at the very front which is used to tow the decoy into place (hence the truck shown at 00:20). PS: Even if it would be a real launcher, it's not worth $50 million like claimed by the Russian propaganda machine. H/t PJ "giK"

Judging by a video released two days ago, German-delivered MK 556 assault rifles seem to have entered service with the popular 3rd Assault Brigade. A bit of history about the German deliveries. Originally limited to 5,000 pieces, the MK 556 assault rifles supplied by Germany were initially exclusively handed out to various Ukrainian SOF units. Later, they were also handed over to the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade and then 58th Motorised Brigade. After the delivery of the initially promised 5,000 units was completed in March 2025, 800 additional assault rifles were surprisingly delivered in April 2025. Only one month later, MK 556 assault rifles were also spotted to be used by the 425th Assault Regiment. Since the MK 556 assault rifles are now also being used by the 3rd Assault Brigade, it is likely (although of course not proven) that deliveries have continued since the German government has largely stopped publishing details about newly delivered or pledged assistance in April 2024.

🧵 1/6 — During today’s parliamentary question session, Chancellor Merz gave a rare information exchange on the Taurus KEPD-350 – the delivery of which to #Ukraine he himself had vehemently demanded – and in doing so, he spread many half-truths. Here is my detailed fact-check.

Brigadier General Christian Freuding gives a clear message on his visit to Ukraine: We are ready and prepared for a long-lasting war. The aid to Ukraine is already financially secured until 2032! PS: Can you finally stop thinking that Germany won't let Ukraine liberate Crimea?

I recently noticed a small Ukrainian TikTok account that shared this video of a German-supplied Gepard SPAAG in mid-May 2025. What stands out is that this one is apparently driving around either near the Russian border in the Sumy Oblast, or in the Kursk border area. As far as I know, the Gepard/Cheetah SPAAGs were not involved in the Kursk offensive and are urgently needed to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure from Russian terrorist attacks with loitering munitions. I just want to say I haven't seen a Gepard SPAAG this close to the Russian border for years! Very interesting.

BREAKING: CDU/CSU, SPD and Greens agree (among other things) to exempt defence spending from the debt brake as soon as it exceeds 1% of GDP. According to Friedrich Merz, this also affects military support for Ukraine. This could mean a massive increase in #Ukraine aid!

According to Rheinmetall CEO Papperger in an interview with Deutsche Welle, Rheinmetall offered to supply 200 of its new FV-014 loitering munitions to #Ukraine two or three months ago. However, ongoing funding issues have so far prevented the contract from being concluded.

This video shows a German/US-delivered Cheetah SPAAG in service with the Ukrainian Air Command South. Deployed somewhere in the Odesa region, it regularly works against Russian Shaheds. As always, I've worked together with StepanS to provide you with English subtitles. Up to 60 Cheetah SPAAGs have been jointly acquired in Jordan by the US and Germany and have been provided to Ukraine. Germany paid for 15 Cheetah SPAAGs, while the US covered the cost for the remaining up to 45 Cheetah SPAAGs.

Germany's Minister of Defence Pistorius gave a convincing speech today (imo) on the possibility of peace in #Ukraine, in which he openly addressed Putin's “foul play”, the many flaws in the 28-point plan and other issues. As always, I have translated most of his speech for you.

A small clarification because fake news are doing the rounds again. Germany's Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius did not say at today's UDCG meeting that Germany will support #Ukraine with five Patriot fire units. He said that “Germany will contribute to providing the five urgently needed Patriot systems as quickly as possible”. That statement in my opinion provides us with the information that Ukraine will very likely receive a total of five Patriot fire units but nothing beyond that. The “Germany will contribute to” likely just refers to the fact that Germany is willing to finance two Patriot fire units for Ukraine. A well-known fact that has been widely discussed in recent days and weeks. We also know that another fire unit is to be financed by Norway. But no where he says that Germany will finance or deliver all five Patriot fire units alone and I would like to point out once again that people should think about from where they get information about current events. Large follower numbers say nothing about credibility.

A small but important update on the subject of Lynx IFVs and #Ukraine. Rheinmetall CEO Papperger announced in an interview with .loyal - Das Magazin für Sicherheitspolitik (published yesterday) that funding for production in Ukraine is still missing, and a corresponding contract has not yet been signed. Building a factory in Ukraine would only make sense if at least 200 to 300 vehicles were to be built there. According to Papperger, Rheinmetall is currently building five Lynx IFVs in Germany for Ukraine – these are most likely still test vehicles (as it was originally announced to supply ten of them to Ukraine) – but that's it. Upon enquiry, I was told that the interview was conducted two weeks ago. So around the same time when many accounts here were widely announcing that Ukraine had chosen the Lynx. Just to put things into perspective regarding the actual and current status of the project. Seems like things are slowly moving — agreement on defence-industrial cooperation signed mid-October which facilitates the development of joint industrial projects like manufacturing Lynx IFVs in Ukraine — however, the whole project still seems far from being finalised. In other words, Ukraine still lacks an investor willing to put a few billion euros on the table for the production of German IFVs in Ukraine and unless one is found, things likely won't move forward.

Since I keep getting asked about reports claiming Chancellor Merz confirmed a planned Taurus delivery to #Ukraine or other long-range missile transfers, I want to clarify what was actually said — and what he meant. All details below. Let us first address the source of these reports. The source – often misquoted or false interpreted, of course – is a joint press conference held by Merz and Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson on the 19th of November 2025 in Berlin. Both the full question from the Swedish reporter and the full answer given by Merz can be watched again via the attached video. I translated the segment for you and added English subtitles. Let's move on to the actual content. Basically, Merz did not confirm a Taurus delivery to Ukraine, nor did he even hint at it. All he did was repeat what had already been discussed and officially confirmed for many months. Germany is financing the production of far-reaching weapon systems manufactured in Ukraine. But which systems are we talking about? It is widely known that Germany is financing a large number of AN-196 Liutyi long-range OWA UAVs. The Ukrainian army uses these drones week after week, in particular to attack the Russian arms industry and other military targets on Russian soil. According to multiple reports by WELT, Germany is financing more than 500 units, which corresponds to an investment in the low three-digit million euro range. The investments in the Ukrainian arms industry were announced at the end of May 2025 as part of a “€5 billion military aid package” during the Ukrainian President's visit to Germany. In mid-July, after WELT had already reported several times on the planned investment in the production of the AN-196 Liutyi, the German side announced that a contract had been signed in Kyiv to guarantee the production of a high three-digit number of “far-reaching drones”, and after all these reports and the official German statement, we can be 99.99% certain that this was actually about the AN-196 Liutyi. It was also reportedly planned that Germany (in addition to interceptor UAVs, which are not relevant here but have already been officially confirmed by the Ukrainian government) would also finance the production of the Bars mini cruise missile. Just a few days ago, video footage allegedly showing the launch of numerous of these mini cruise missiles in Ukraine was published for the first time. However, we have never heard anything about this from the German or Ukrainian side. However, considering that both the WELT report on the long-range OWA UAVs and the interceptor UAVs turned out to be correct, it can be assumed their report about Germany financing the Bars is also correct. Here and there I hear a few other things, for example investments into other Ukrainian-made weapon systems, but for me, for multiple reasons, these are mostly just rumours, or I cannot publicly provide an explanation for these things, so I will leave it at that for now. Now you know what these reports are actually about, and by no means is this breaking news or any recent development. Everything has been planned and known for many months. Partly even prepared under the Scholz government. Finally, back to Taurus. Let's put it short. After all official statements, private discussions I had and media reports since Merz took office earlier this year, I don't see a single reason to believe that a Taurus delivery is being prepared and, accordingly, that Ukraine will ever receive the German cruise missile as Merz promised to do while being the opposition leader. This assessment was just recently confirmed by a report from the German newspaper Handelsblatt, which cited “government circles”. Lastly, I would like to emphasise once again that, after more than three and a half years, it is finally time to consider which accounts and news sites regularly attract attention with such false reports and why people still obtain information from them. Do better. Don't spread fake news. I just spend more than an hour of my day on this tweet alone because people still follow certain accounts, read certain media even though they know they are getting fed BS or just half-truths.

Please do not fall for clickbait (see below). The German Defence Minister's statement was heavily shortened and taken out of context. Pistorius never said there is nothing left in the stockpiles that can be provided to #Ukraine. He merely pointed out that he and the current German Foreign Minister, as in 2024 and 2025, had sent a letter to their European counterparts asking for more aid for Ukraine. With regard to the “stockpiles” and the “one billion euros”, this refers to the German air defence initiative EAAD (Enduring Action on Air Defence). In the first round starting in 2024, Ukraine's partners including Germany, pledged and delivered air defence assets such as air defence systems, radars, ammunition, spare parts, etc., worth around €1 billion via the German initiative. Since then, it has been renamed and relaunched, with Norway and Belgium for example once again participating with equipment and funding worth hundreds of millions of euros. That’s it. That was all the statement said. If a country such as Luxembourg, the UK or Lithuania for example is no longer able to supply military equipment from army stocks to Ukraine (because everything has a limit), then funding is needed so that new military equipment can be produced and delivered to Ukraine. There is no news and no scandal here. Germany, for example, has been doing this for some time now. Skynex, IRIS-T SLM, PzH 2000, FFG MRAPs, Vector UAVs, the ammunition for the Gepard SPAAGs and so on. Nearly everything which Germany is currently delivering to Ukraine has been contracted via the industry, newly produced and then delivered. I hope that gave you the necessary context.

The 425th Assault Regiment has apparently received German/Danish/Dutch-donated Leopard 1A5 MBTs with additional reactive armour, drone nets and camouflage. The operators have confirmed what we have heard before from others: The Leopard 1A5s is a good MBT, very fast (saves lives), manoeuvrable, accurate when shooting and can operate over long distances. According to the Ukrainian soldier, the Leopard 1A5 is not a Mercedes-Benz (which would have surprised me too), but it is still a good MBT for the AFU. The supplementary reactive armour also seems to be a good addition to the MBT. Apparently, there was once a direct hit by a not further classified shell. The reactive armour fell off, but the turret of the tank remained intact.

As promised, I'm providing you with the full 5+ minute video published by the 223rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment on the German-delivered IRIS-T SLM air defence system, fully with English subtitles. As always, thanks to StepanS, without whom this wouldn't have been possible. Again, in the video you will see some very detailed shots of IRIS-T SLM/SLS launchers, the TRML-4D air surveillance radar and the TOC of their IRIS-T SLM fire unit. It also includes several interceptor launches.
