At HumanLayer, we’re on a mission to solve the AI slop code problem. In 2025 we open-sourced our Research, Plan, Implement framework, now deployed inside fortune 500s like Block and Uber - places where shipping slop is just not an option And that was just the beginning. Today, we’re opening access to HumanLayer - an Agentic IDE, collaboration platform, and building blocks for your software factory. HumanLayer enables engineers solving hard problems in complex codebases to: > move 2-3x faster across the entire SDLC (not just coding) > maintain rigorous standards for system architecture and program design Hundreds of engineers at companies of all sizes are already using HumanLayer to ship fast without sacrificing quality. I'm excited to invite you to try humanlayer today at and I'm even more excited to see what you build. Kyle Mistele 🏴☠️ and I are deeply grateful to our team, our customers who give us so much incredible energy and feedback, our investors who have always been in our corner, and our friends and family who have supported us along this crazy journey if you're a staff or principal engineer trying to make AI coding work at scale for your team, we'd love to hear from you as swyx likes to say - let's make this the year of no more slop

coming soon to a humanlayer new you: live multiplayer prompting - co-author a single prompt with your team. A few weeks ago we shipped "send a prompt to your colleague's session" - now we made each individual prompt collaborative. No cloud agents required, works wherever you run your agent - across laptops, mac minis, cloud compute, we even have this working in coding agent sessions that run in disposable compute like github actions. built on durable streams and Rivet actors on ECS - incredible work from Kyle Mistele 🏴☠️ That's in addition to all the other things we made collaborative in the last 2 months: - live google-docs style commenting on plans, right in the IDE, or plan/collab from your phone - diffs stream live as the coding agent is working, so you can comment on changes wayyy before PR shift collaboration left, shift alignment left, go check it out humanlayer - free for small teams go check it out today

today's fun ai coding tricking - when doing the high-level part of your plan, do an amazon-style "working backwards" approach - write the customer-facing blog post about the feature BEFORE you start building this can surface so many edge cases and help you dial in on prioritizing the important parts, and just is much nicer to read (plus you can post it after you ship 🙂)

everyone wants to sell you a software factory, but as David Crawshaw (founder tailscale, would probably say, these things need to be open systems I went deep with Vaibhav Gupta on the future of software factory architecture, and the tradeoffs between turnkey stacks and owning+composing the system full video here:

we've been working hard on the best way to collaborate across agent sessions - across any combination of dev workstations, mac minis, or cloud environments. Send prompts to your teammates sessions teleport worktree bundles + task context across workstations manage sessions and collab on artifacts from your phone what else should we add?

man design tools might be a little cooked... people talk a lot about html for nicer docs and explainers But its also really really good for riffing on product prototypes - this was like 10-20 fast rounds of back and forth to figure out what we wanna build before wiring it all into the app

we're back with more software factory alpha on the 🦄 AI That Works show - Vaibhav Gupta and I teamed up with - Tyler Brown - discussed how they run a discuss/do/compound loop in their factory, with Linear as the frontend and all agent sessions running on mac minis - cole murray sharing tales from the trenches rolling out the OSS OpenInspect factory to teams of up to 500 engineers in the enterprises super fun time - catch us every week at 10:15am PT on X and on

the homie Sam Bhagwat has requested more screen studios - i bring you: the humanlayer collaborative diff viewer - review any diff for any session on any machine, in real time as the agent works. No more waiting for "pull request" to get feedback on what you're building. Agent still runs on your compute, not in someone else's cloud

We're gonna start posting episodes of AI That Works here - this one was super fun, me and Vaibhav Gupta talked about how observability is gonna have to evolve to help us grapple with a world where we're shipping more code than we can feasibly read includes shout outs to Charity Majors, boris, Dillon Mulroy and many other GOATs
