After the success of the first “Heute und Damals” video, I decided to do part two with all what was still unused in my camera roll. I might even do part three? Part one is linked to this video! Compilation of “Then and now” depictions of Germany in the NS era with old photographs from postcards and from old books that I have printed out.. These locations are from all over Germany and even its former territories. It shows how many architecture, artefacts and other objects that are still being used and sometimes for the same purpose with only the Swastik* removed! Also photos of “Decorated” streets are amongst the chosen for this video.. Crazy how many places still look the same to 80-90 years ago! #Germany #History

Objects, not buildings. Not the rally grounds, or the Ordensburgen. What is left is the small thing fixed to a surface. After 1945 the public symbols were ordered down. The swastika was chiseled out, the eagle taken off the railing, the glass left in a back stair. A lot of it was never important enough to list, so it stayed: on graves, in village stone, in the plaster of a waiting room. Eighty years later not a monument, but things nobody scheduled for removal. None of these are on the usual maps. If you know a stone, a wall or a floor that never got filmed, say where. #Germany #History

His private residence on the Obersalzberg today is nothing more than woods and a few concrete reminders.. Yet it is still very visible when you know where to look! The foundations of the Bergof can still be seen, the gaurdhouse left it’s mark, concrete from the driveway can still be seen and the terrace is still an open space looking over the Untersberg.. There is even more than shown here in my video! #Germany #History

World War One memorial from 1936 in a smaller village West of the Rhine river. It depicts an immense eagle on top of a sword from sculptor Willy Meller. On the back there was a quotation of AH that they have now hidden by adding a metal plate over it. On the sides the names of the World War One dead are engraved. The photograph is from its inauguration back in 1936. The memorial was not demolished but repurposed as a memorial for both world wars. Unfortunatelly the memorial has been vandalised with paint many times. On my visit I was lucky for it to be clean.
