Greece just got its 21st UNESCO site, and you can climb it! Nobody warns you that the last hour of Olympus is the one that actually hurts! You're above the tree line, the path turns to scree, and the weather does whatever it wants. Then you get up there and it's worth every bit of it. September is the window: the real summer heat has broken, the refuges are still open, and the trail isn't full. Route is Prionia to Skolio via the Spilios Agapitos refuge. Book the refuge.
