It has seen Girangaon change, the mills disappear, the 1982 strike and even a pandemic when the mandal turned to blood donation and healthcare. This year, a contribution has gone towards the celebrations. Nice to see support being added to a tradition that has belonged to Mumbai for generations. The streets are full again. Bappa is coming home.

My society celebrates Maghi Ganpati every year! Here you’ll see Gujaratis, Marathis, South Indians and also North Indians all coming together, chipping money and making this happen. Attending aarti daily at 8pm, bringing prasad from home. I am a Gujarati Jain but I know all these aartis by heart since childhood. This is the Mumbai/Thane we grew up in. Begging these politicians to not create any division between us. Stop your language and hate politics. We all coexist very happily and don’t ruin that with your hate politics please.
