This is Somanna, an elephant brought from a camp a few days ago for a procession in Shivamogga. He was led through narrow streets packed with people. Frightened and anxious, he ran amok. Thankfully no one was hurt, or he would have been the one punished. You can clearly see Somanna limping. He is in pain. Couldn't a truck have been arranged to take him for medical care? Ramalinga Reddy Sir, I know how much you love animals. Please look into this urgently, because Somanna needs medical care now. I also request that camp elephants no longer be allowed for such processions. Elephants, and all animals, deserve our compassion and empathy.

It's almost 3am, and Fun World is still bursting crackers and blasting music. The Supreme Court has prohibited bursting crackers between 10pm and 6am, and loudspeakers can't run past midnight even with special permission. I understand occasions call for some flexibility, but not at this hour. There are hospitals nearby and senior citizens and children living all around. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ BengaluruCityPolice DCP North-Bengaluru.

That elephant may not be dancing. When a captive elephant repeatedly sways its head or rocks its body in the same pattern, it may be displaying stereotypic behaviour -repetitive movements associated with stress and compromised welfare. That elephant may carry a history of trauma and stress. These behaviours can persist even after conditions improve. One of the biggest mistakes we make is assuming that animals express themselves the way we do. What looks like dancing to us is not necessarily happiness. Before filming, adding music or sharing a “dancing elephant” video, pause. You may be turning a sign of distress into entertainment. Please learn to recognise the behaviour. Don’t circulate it as proof of joy.

The Bangalore City Police have taken a firm stand against misogynistic aggression. Legal action has been initiated, and two individuals have been arrested. Authorities are actively pursuing further arrests to ensure justice is served. The message is clear: It is difficult to escape the hand of law when it comes to protecting women’s dignity and ensuring safety in our city. #BangalorePolice #Justice #WomenSafety #LawAndOrder #ZeroTolerance
