I said yesterday that London’s blanket refusal to consider a referendum on independence regardless of Scottish election results is one of the key reasons I’m seeking selection. Scotland is a nation - and must have the right to self determine the form of Government best suited to our needs. Pro-UK politicians need to outline under what circumstances a referendum could take place - which would give both Yes and No voters the chance to have an equal say. #seriousaboutindependence

We all know the UK mismanages Scotland’s resources. Nowhere is this clearer than at Grangemouth - industry, trade, industrial relations, employment law and most powers over energy are all reserved to Westminster - while we pay some of the highest energy bills in Europe. If we continue to allow Westminster Governments to govern Scotland, then we’ll continue to face the same fate.

I’m fed up of UK politics which seems to be more about making other people’s lives worse than it is about making our own lives better. I believe if you pay into the system, you should get something back out. Taxation is a contract between people and the Government to deliver services. That is the social contract. Look at Labour’s record in Government - paying more tax for virtually nothing in return. If selected I will champion these principles.
