Viewer discretion is strongly advised. ⚠️ This video, captured by the 27-year old man threatening and pursuing Johnson on the 16th Street Maul, shows a shooting that happened on 5/3/26. DPD then shot Johnson several times inside an apartment vestibule a block away. Both men survived their injuries. Johnson was initially charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon but the case was later downfiled to misdemeanors. After review of Denver Police body camera footage, the Denver DA decided not to file charges against the officers involved. Downtown Denver, including the 16th Street Maul corridor, continues to struggle with persistent crimes of disorder and violence despite major public investments. The city bought the Pavilions mall specifically to stop it from becoming a dead, crime-magnet property right in the middle of downtown, yet problems clearly remain. This raises serious concerns for people living, working and enjoying downtown. Denver will keep spiraling if people feel they must arm themselves for protection when visiting the area or simply choose to avoid downtown completely.

Recently, Meth Camp Mike Johnston said that street drugs are “tailor made” for people living outside. That fentanyl will keep them warm, keep them awake, kill the hunger. Cool story, Mikey. Fentanyl does not keep you awake. It puts people on the ground. (Clearly Mikey isn’t even knowledgeable about the difference between fentanyl and meth) And guess what…treatment is not required or even encouraged. Vagrants get moved into taxpayer-funded housing and continue using. The city removed the AIMH dashboard number for how many actually went into treatment. Wonder why. It was basically ZERO. What about people who moved into self-sufficiency? Also nearly ZERO. Housing is not solving homelessness. The city is just moving people into taxpayer funded apartments so they can keep using, keep committing crimes, and keep destroying neighborhoods. The chaos didn’t go away. Mikey just spread it around the city and called it pRoGrESS. What Johnston is doing is immoral and cruel. Enabling and warehousing addiction is not compassion. He will be on the wrong side of history. Johnston will never solve the addiction problem he calls homelessness if he keeps taking advice from Denver’s virtue crowd…Cole Chandler, Lisa Raville, and the rest of those death ghouls. Broadway & 10th. Around 11pm last night there was another street takeover. An ambulance was even trapped in the chaos. Mayor Mike Johnston has allowed a culture of lawlessness to take hold in Denver, making the city less safe for everyone. Thank you, Denver Police Dept., for shutting down this illegal and dangerous gathering quickly.

SEVEN Denver businesses just announced closures this week and the pattern is impossible to ignore. Rock Bottom - Flagship location that helped build Denver’s microbrew scene. 1UP - The original arcade bar location is closing and relocating to Belmar. (Wonder what pushed that decision…🙄) Church & Union - Barely 2 years old and already calling it quits. Mecha Noodle - RiNo restaurant closing after 2 years. Portside - Didn’t renew their lease after 10 years in Five Points. Magna Kainan - Closing their RiNo location after less than 2 years. Two Moons - Closing their RiNo venue after a nearly 2-year run. When your city’s “vibrancy” looks like this on the streets… businesses don’t survive. Great work, Mike Johnston

Speer & Federal. Last night Aurora Police Dept pursued a homicide suspect driving a red Toyota Camry. The chase ended in a major crash at the intersection of Speer Blvd & Federal Blvd around 9:40pm. I checked both APD and Denver Police Dept. accounts…nothing posted. This seems like the kind of incident that should’ve had a public alert or update. Anyone have more details?

Yosemite and Montview. Vagrants are living in Denver’s underground tunnel system. Today, a man was spotted opening and entering a sewer access point while carrying a guitar and other belongings. Bannock between 9th & 10th. Sunday night around 10:30/11pm, a man walked up the street carrying a large gun, reportedly aiming it at people while screaming profanities. Thankfully, Denver Police Dept. arrived a few minutes later and arrested him. Without crowdsourced reporting, the public would never have known this happened. #Denver #GoldenTriangle #DenverSafety

🚨 PSA: Keystone & Haven 124 Apartments in Northglenn are dealing with a squatter takeover 🚨 A large group of squatters (including families with children) has reportedly taken over multiple units in these buildings. The squatters have reportedly broken into apartments, including two break-ins over the July 4th weekend. The squatters have also reportedly taken over the pool and fitness areas. Management has reportedly admitted knowing about the squatters but has done almost nothing. Residents say they are being told to “be patient” while the office continues touring the complex to new tenants. Police have been contacted with little to no action. Multiple residents (including single mothers and young adults living alone) say they are scared and don’t feel safe in their own homes. Speer and Larimer: Cherry Creek Trail Around 6pm this evening, a man was found murdered near the Cherry Creek Trail. Witnesses report his skull was bashed in with a rock. It appears to be a homeless on homeless incident. A suspect has been arrested according to Denver Police Dept.. His booking information is not on yet. I’ll share an update tomorrow once it’s posted.

🚨 Denver Police Dept. just dropped a press release warning folks about car break-ins turning deadly…and then casually slips in the 2026 homicide numbers like it’s just another Tuesday. Two more dead Denverites shot by thieves breaking into their own vehicles. One on June 24, another on June 30. But hey, at least they’re patting themselves on the back that violent gun crime is “down” compared to last year even though homicides are up 44% over prior year. Nothing says “everything’s fine” like burying body counts in your own safety warning. Meanwhile, on 6/26 Councilwoman Amanda Sandoval said she wasn’t the victim in her own armed carjacking; the two boys who carjacked her were. This is peak pro-crime clown world, folks. Criminals are the real victims, property owners are asking for it, and the city’s solution is “just call 911 and don’t defend yourself.” Denver’s leadership would rather protect the predators than the people trying to protect their own cars. Lock up, stay strapped (legally), and vote these morons out. This isn’t public safety…it’s public surrender.

🚨 Squatter Takeover at Keystone Apartments in Northglenn 🚨 Management just posted these bilingual (English & Romanian) notices on doors: “Notice to Registered Lease Holder – Immediate Action Required. This unit has been identified as unresponsive and potentially abandoned… The registered lease holder must contact the leasing office within 24 hours and appear in person. If we do not receive contact and an in-person visit, the locks will be changed and all windows secured.” A large group of squatters, including families with children, has taken over multiple units in the Keystone Apartments. They’ve reportedly broken into apartments by entering vacant units through windows. Management has allegedly known for months but has done almost nothing. Residents were told to “be patient” and promised resolution in early June… then early July… while new tenants are still being shown units. 🤯 To me, this feels eerily similar to the “code violations” in Aurora apartments in 2024. Right now, single mothers, young adults, and families say they’re scared in their own homes. Police have been called with little to no action. City of Northglenn and Northglenn PD PIO - residents need your immediate attention and action on this! Secure this property ASAP and remove the squatters.
