“Don’t Let Go” from Sturgill Simpson’s new album Mutiny after Midnight, his second LP under his Johnny Blue Skies pseudonym. I think Sturgill is the best country/country-rock/whatever artist to debut in the past 20 years. #sturgillsimpson #vinyl #recordcollection #johnnyblueskies

Ronnie Milsap idolized Elvis Presley and played piano on Presley’s “Kentucky Rain.” Milsap said it was Elvis saying to “play what you feel” on that song that inspired Milsap’s piano playing on his own 1980 hit “Smoky Mountain Rain.” #ronniemilsap #elvis #vinyl #recordcollection

“Was I Right or Wrong” from Skynyrd’s’ First…And Last. It was recorded during 1970-1972 and was supposed to be Lynyrd Skynyrd’s first album, but it wasn’t released until 1978, a year after the band’s tragic plane crash. #lynyrdskynyrd #southernrock #vinyl #recordcollection

“The Forks of Cypress” from Patterson Hood’s superb, filler-free new solo album Exploding Dreams & Airplane Screams. That’s Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) singing harmony on this track, and her guy Kevin Morby on the late guitar solo. #pattersonhood #waxahatchee #rock #vinyl
