Bottom line is, the Dodgers haven't hit in the postseason, and that shouldn't be a huge surprise, because they had lulls in the Regular season too. The questions are, will they break out of it, and if they don't, how long can they rely on their starting pitching to bail them out? #dodgers

Bobby Miller...Bruh! Dude just threw another scoreless inning in relief, and made it look easy again by missing barrels for his 1st 2 outs, then missing bats for the last K. Miller has gone scoreless in 4 relief outings in a row, and has walked just 1 batter since being transitioned to relief, which spans 6 innings. Tonight he threw 8 pitches, 5 were strikes. Listed as 4 Seam/curveball heavy! #dodgers

Eddie Rosario had 4 hits today for AAA OKC, and is hitting .364, OPS of 1.034. The Dodgers have acquired AAAA veterans like this in the past, who have performed very well but never get promoted. Matt Davidson and Andre Lipcius are the 2 that come to mind first. So, why get these MLB veteran-type guys if you have no plans to use them even when they perform with OKC? That's honestly not meant to be a complaint or anything like that, it's just kind of confusing, and maybe there's a simple answer I haven't thought of. Rosario is hitting .364, OPS of 1.034! #dodgers

Unsung at bat of the night goes to ANDY PAGES. After Rojas led off the 5th inning by grounding out, Pages finished an 8-pitch at bat by dumping a 76 MPH base hit to the opposite field. The home runs are great, and the Dodgers don't win without them, but it was the ole proverbial "Bloop" before the blast that set up the crooked number. The video below is of the Teo HR, but well done, Andy! #dodgers

Robinson Ortiz...Atta Baby! Ortiz had a HUGE year this past season, and got rewarded by being placed on the Dodgers' 40-man roster. Ortiz posted an ERA of 2.73, an average against of just .207, and had 72 Ks in 59.1 innings. And ALL of that is great. And, while the "execution" piece is still THE focus, keep in mind, he, in essence, hadn't pitched since 2021, due to Tommy John. Ortiz was a HIGHLY thought of prospect back in 2021, before his Tommy John, and came back to start 2024, but was shut down after just 6 outings and 11 innings in May of 2024. So, for him to be able to post 59.1 innings and have 48 appearances was HUGE in terms of showing that he's BACK. Then, to have the success on top of that, after such a long layoff, just goes to show how good his stuff is. Ortiz features a HUGE sweeping slider that starts well behind the back of a left-hander, and breaks from one side of the earth to the other. Trying to decipher whether that pitch is going to land "in the zone" or not is VERY difficult, even for hitters that have a LOT of MLB experience like he faced at OKC. His fastball is firm, and he can hit 6s and 7s, so those 2 pitches play well off of each other. Welcome aboard, Robinson. It's been a LONG road, one you've navigated successfully. Keep killin' it, my man. #dodgers

Griffin Lockwood Powell....Let's Go! GLP, Lock, Griff, whatever you want to call him, he was another one we covered on our last Down on the Farm on Dodgers Dawgs. He's a really good ball player who grew up in South Dakota, went to Central Michigan, went undrafted, and has worked his ass off to get a Non-Roster invite to Spring Training. Lock is a big dude, but centers his hitting approach with the opposite field gap to "stay on" the ball, which is an approach that allows him to hit "gap to gap". Griffin catches, plays 1st base, can play the outfield, drive the bus, mow the infield, could definitely manage, or anything other thing a club might need him to do. Easy one to root for, that's for sure! #dodgers

Kendall George had 2 hits today for Great Lakes, including another one of his patented infield hits where he just beat the ball in the ground and ran like the wind. George is one of the funnest players to watch because he's fast, but also because he's been extremely good. George is hitting .280 on the year, but is hitting .370 so far in August & hit .291 in July. Dude is a "get on, get over, get in" machine! #dodgers

The Roki Sasaki situation is complicated, and it's not as simple as making it black and white. Sasaki, unquestionably, has NOT performed well enough as a starter to deserve a spot in the opening day rotation. But, he was KEY in the World Series title last year, AND, he took WAY less money to join the Dodgers. He did that because he believed in the Dodgers' developmental system, and he felt as if he could grow the most under the Dodgers instruction. He also wanted to play with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Beyond that, I'm sure, as part of the sales pitch, the Dodgers assured him a spot in the rotation, because they were the only organization that could "logistically" implement a 6-man rotation. They can do that because Ohtani is a 2-way player, so, in essence, they can have 14 pitchers. So, to get Sasaki to sign, especially considering he was signing early, and thus, had to sign a Minor League contract, their HAD to be promises made. One could assume the Dodgers assured him a spot in the rotation, and, more importantly, a role as a starter. And, you have to understand, one of the secret sauces for the Dodgers with Free Agents is that they have developed a remarkable reputation for delivering on the promises they make. That alone is a MAJOR factor as to why the Dodgers are THE destination for Free Agents. And the ability to acquire the CORRECT Free Agents can NOT be understated as to the impact it's made in creating this dynasty. So, to move Sasaki either to the pen or to AAA, they would have to back out on a promise made, and one that was instrumental in his signing with the Dodgers instead of the Padres or any other organization. It's truly a "rock and a hard place" because you have everyone else on the "merit system" and pitchers being sent to OKC that deserve better, meanwhile, Sasaki is getting preferential treatment. Then, on top of all that, one of the LARGEST parts of this dynasty construction has been capturing the Asian market, specifically the Japanese market. The Dodgers have done such great work capturing that audience, and because of it, they are swimming in both money AND championships. It's been a 100% Win/Win, and surely NO ONE would want to upset that Apple Cart. Especially over a 6th starter, who has potential, as he showed in the playoffs last year? And on a team that could win 100+ games and win the Division by double digits? Even if he doesn't pitch well! Even if he pitches well in just 1/2 his outings, the Dodgers might win 110ish games if everything else plays out the way it should. That's the "rock and a hard place" that I see, and I can see both sides of it. For me, it just kind of "Is What It Is, and I trust the Front Office to massage this situation in a way that works for everyone in the long run. #dodgers
