an underrated but so deliciously performed thing i wanna talk about is how belle mariano plays the different versions of cheska in #TayoSaWakas. the bubbly, luminous girl we meet at the beginning, the girlfriend who keeps dimming herself to accommodate cisco, the woman who finally stands her ground, and then THIS. this strange, almost deadpan cheska who exists entirely through cisco’s POV. and this version fascinates me because belle isn’t playing the “real” cheska anymore - she’s playing cisco’s memory of her, his conscience, his projection of the woman he loved. the sarcasm, the teasing, the matter-of-fact delivery... it’s cheska, but not really. even the filmmaking shows it: she doesn’t wear a seatbelt, the camera shifts away from her while she’s speaking, cisco’s body literally obscures her from the frame. then she asks, “why did you do what you did?” and the whole thing feels fucking chilling. belle knew exactly what she was doing here. what an actress! may you finally receive your long overdue flowers. #bellemariano

love this scene w tina and cheska because they’re literally just brainstorming for the pitch against CxC, but you can feel that cheska is still carrying the aftermath of what just happened w cisco. i also appreciate that the film trusts belle to communicate so much of cheska’s inner life without spelling it out. kahit product placement scene 'to lol you can still feel the heaviness of the weight that she was carrying. i also really wish we got more of tina and cheska because their dynamic could've been explored more! ang saya panoorin ni Miah Canton - mahusay din! lahat ng housemates nila ni cisco! #bellemariano #tayosawakas
