“A Heck of a Palaeontologist.” If I Do Say So Myself…

Shorts

I am SO ready for the Tron Ares overlay to come back! Riding with the villain provided memorable ride audio and the red was phenomenal at night! Was hoping it would return for Halloween season, but alas! 🏍️🎢

I was disappointed to hear both pre-shows for Monsters Unchained at Epic have been down for weeks! Those really add to the experience. Plus my fav animatronic the Phantom of the Opera was also not working. Fix your ride please Uni! Final Dracula was perfect tho which is 👌👌👌

The ultimate question: Will Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent ride at Animal Kingdom feature this iconic boulder finale that the Disneyland version is famous for? It hasn’t been mentioned in the story beats revealed but it would be surprising if it was absent. 🪨🐍🛕

Who remembers when Kilimanjaro Safaris was an intense hunt to expose poachers? A ride that taught a valuable life lesson to guests! Missing effects include gyres, a fake poacher jeep racing through the forest, human actor with AK-47, Little Red and the famous shaky bridge. 🐘

8 mins left and the final rider line winds down past the podiums into the walled off walkway of Dinoland. The love for Dinosaur is overwhelming. 💙👏 Also no wristbands.

Countdown to Extinction in the 90’s was the true vision of what the imagineers wanted Dinosaur to be. This video shows the iconic glass shattering audio, the square laser outline and the strobe effects. These timeless audio effects were turned off to make the ride less scary 📸⚡️

3 days left of Dino Institute employment. For this final week I am going to post as much dinosaur/countdown to extinction content as humanly possible. “Flash Photography? I wouldn’t! 📸” The Carnotaurus animatronic that takes your picture was the largest of its time. My fav 🦖

During the opening of Countdown to Extinction (Dinosaur), there was a fake local news van put out front of the Institute’s entrance! This was to make The Dino Institute’s grand opening to the public in the ride’s storytelling lore more believable and realistic. 📰🗞️📺🚐

Name me a bigger downgrade…😔 Father Time comes for us all. I just hope people remember how impressive this Carno animatronic once was! Large scale, intentional movement and thrilling craftsmanship. 🦖

I still belly laugh when I see THE Walt Disney wheeling around the Grandma animatronic from Carousel of Progress all around the airport. She is of course on her way for her big debut at the New York World Fare! 👵🗽

Since the new ZOOTOPIA Show is all the rage this week, how about we take a trip back on our timerovers to the Animal Kingdom’s Opening Day Show called ‘Journey into the Jungle Book’! This 1998 show had questionable costumes but an INCREDIBLE Shere Khan Puppet🐅🐻🐵

Look at that EMV move! That time rover sure had a heck of a lot of potential movement. This ride system truly has endless possibilities and I’m always surprised it isn’t used on more attraction. Must be very expensive. 🦖☄️🦕

There was a talking tree called Wes Palm at Animal Kingdom back in 2003!! Can you believe it? Similar to Push the Trash Can and this year’s Hibiscus meet and greets, this random Palm Tree would greet guests at the entrance of DAK. WILD 🌴🌴

Only Walt Disney can get away with pretending his Grandma animatronic is real while rolling her around and carrying her onto a plane. 👵 Here he is bringing the figure to the 1964 World Fair!!🌎

The lights have been turned off, the time rovers powered down and the flux capacitors removed. This is the saddest video I have ever seen 😭 But wonderfully touching video from DisneyWorldTom 🦖🦕

Here is an up close look at Alioramus with the lights on. He seems to be in “Idle Mode”, where he is moving slightly back and forth but not running at full speed. Notice the crocodilia in his mouth also still moving in and out. A cool look at this animatronic! 💡🦖🦕💡
