I fully agree with former President Thabo Mbeki that the problem of high levels of unemployment cannot be solely attributed to undocumented (illegal) immigrants; fortunately, there is no one who has made such a claim. That is not even a claim made by the leaders of the protest actions, if we closely and carefully listen to them. What they are claiming is that uncontrolled and illegal migration makes it difficult for South African job seekers. This claim is factually correct. I respectfully disagree with the former President that illegal migration has nothing to do with unemployment. It is a fact that undocumented immgrants are a source of cheap and unprotected labour, what is called unregulated employment. It is also a fact, that this source of employment directly results in labour market distortions and displacement of South African job seekers. It is also a fact that the most affected job seekers by the labour market displacement are the low-skilled and unskilled workers. Unemployed population in South Africa consists of a mix of skills; which can be broken down into three main categories. The first is HIGHLY SKILLED & GRADUATES UNEMPLOYMENT, this is unemployed graduates who struggle to find entry-level positions that require prior experience. The second is SEMI-SKILLED UNEMPLOYMENT, these are job seekers that have completed secondary education (matric) or specialised vocational training, but their qualifications often do not align with the specific technical trades or digital roles that employers are actively seeking. The third is LOW-SKILLED AND UNSKILLED UNEMPLOYMENT, which constitues a large portion of the unemployed workforce and has low levels of formal education, and are at a severe disadvantage in a modernising economy that increasingly requires advanced or technical capabilities. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to know that the low-skilled and un-skilled category of the unemployed is severely displaced by a labour market that is open to undocumented immigrants. I have elaborated on this matter in an article that I published on my social media platforms. To access that article, log in👇🏿

Launch of the Integrated Public Service Month focusing on employee health and wellness. Aerobics classes for all interested public servants will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 15h00 - 16h30. We hope this intervention and others will help to reduce the increasing absenteeism cases related to mental health. Northern Cape Provincial Administration has 28 000 employees. To improve their levels of productivity, it is expected that all public service leaders must create a conducive and empowering work environment for employees🤼🏿🤼🏿🤼🏿

ANC CONFERENCES AND THE ATTITUDES OF VOTERS by Dr. Zamani Saul, NC ANC Chairperson “Macomrades, vumelami u President athethe; thetha President subahoya, suboyika”. Gwede Mantashe (16 December 2022) This quotation loosely translated into English “Comrades, allow the president to speak, President speak. Ignore them and don’t be frightened by their noise”. In this article, I argue that the electoral performance of the ANC is partly informed by how it projects itself during conferences. I suggest that the ANC must introduce a delegate qualification process to ensure that delegates attending conferences are appropriately screened. It is in the ANC’s self-interest to disqualify any delegate whose lumpen tendencies may threaten the hosting of an orderly conference. I further argue that in the past, before the unbanning, the ANC had an incredible capacity to quickly recover from setbacks. Currently, the ANC clearly needs to develop such capacity to avert situations rapidly degenerating from bad to worse. This bad-to-worst trajectory has defined the electoral performance of the ANC since 2009. To halt the decline, the ANC must urgently change the bad image it projects to the electorate during conferences as it creates a bad perception of political mismanagement of internal party affairs. Our former Deputy President, comrade DD Mabuza, declining nomination for re-election in 2022 ANC National Conference. He declined, knowing very well that as the Deputy President, he was just a foot away from becoming the ANC President. Here, he defied the belief that "ambition knows no limits". While ambition often propels individuals to strive for greatness, there are moments when restraint and humility become the true marks of character. Comrade DD, through his conduct, demonstrated that sometimes the greatest ambition lies not in endless pursuit for positions but in knowing when to pause, reflect, and prioritise what truly matters. Defying the relentless drive for positions often associated with ambition, comrade DD showed us that wisdom, compassion, and self-awareness can be the most admirable achievements of all. In a world that often celebrates boundless ambition, his example serves as a reminder that true greatness can also be found in balance and restraint🖤💚💛

We will laugh at him today, but I see ruthless adversity that is in the process of molding a future leader here. With dignity, Floyd aptly carried in his voice the heavy burden of this pain of embarassment and humiliation. This is a young promising talent that is being aborted by the predatory nature of South Africa's party politics. But such talent can not be destroyed. It's like a seed, when buried, it sprouts and grows. They must ask from us in the ANC, a zero-sum game does not work in modern politics. You must be accommodative to people with different views and permutations to keep the internal cohesion of the party.

This is the longest train in the world. It connects Sishen (Northern Cape) with Saldanha Port (Western Cape). It is an 861-kilometre-long heavy-haul railway line in South Africa. It transports about 60 million tonnes of iron ore per year. We will not stop lobbying for the introduction of concrete measures to beneficiate our strategic minerals in the province, as this Pit2Port colonial structure of the mining economy continues to impoverish our communities.

Voted with the IFP and DA in all hung municipalities in 2016, resulting in the DA occupying mayoral positions in critical metro municipalities. Just now, on Friday, the EFF voted with the DA in the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature for a DA Speaker and DA Premier candidates, whilst at the same time at the National Assembly condemning the GNU initiative that includes the DA. So, when the EFF works with the DA that is progressive, and when any other party includes the DA in any initiative that is "sell out and reactionary". I've never seen such kind of ideological volatility.

Harvesting of fake intelligence reports continues to define the political ecosystem of the MK Party. This brings vivid memories of a similar failed attempt in the ANC. That attempt was abruptly halted on its tracks by the late comrade Billy Masetla in the November 2016 NEC Meeting. In that NEC meeting, a fourth heated debate on the recall of former President JZ took place. Delivering his closing remarks at the meeting, a visibly enraged JZ warned the NEC members that if the matter of his recall gets tabled again in the NEC meeting, that meeting will not quorate as he had intelligence files on all NEC members and that more than half of the NEC members have corrupt dealings. He threatened to present those files to the law enforcement agencies and that more than half of the NEC members would land in jail. Sitted in the front row, comrade Billy Masetla interrupted JZ and objected to that. He expressed his disgust at JZ as president for threatening NEC members and dared him to hand over those files to the law enforcement agencies. Jabulani Khumalo, the founder of MKP, was also expelled based on some flimsy intelligence report, and Secretary Generals are getting chopped, also on the basis of some intelligence information. Posthumously, thanks to comrade Billy Masetla for standing up for the ANC🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
