OAU transport system was near perfect, adequate buses and bikes, we rarely experienced queues until the First Lady came and decided she didn’t like the ease of transportation and introduced “change” by donating CNG buses. The school management in turn banned all motorcycles and commercial buses on campus and subjected over 30,000 students to just about 50 buses and a few tricycles. OAU has one of the largest land masses of any Nigerian university, yet students are now stranded daily. This is a Monday morning where students are supposed to rush for class, but they are stuck at the campus gate because of the inefficiency of the CNG buses. Students are struggling to go to class in the morning and in the evenings to even get back to their hostels. Students staying off campus now spend almost double to get to campus, all alternative transport means have been removed The management have cars to bypass all of this, but majority of students do not. Yet they released statements talking about how the buses will “ease transportation” and even implied students appreciate the system. Meanwhile, students are trekking, missing classes, and spending hours in queues. Let it be clear that students do not appreciate this system. It has made our lives harder, not better. What used to be a smooth system has now become a daily struggle. There are many pressing issues in this school, but they chose to dismantle a working transport system and replace it with hardship. We can no longer remain silent. Let the whole world know what OAU students are going through. Please if you come across this tweet, help us retweet it whether you are an OAU student or not We demand our towngboro buses and motorcycles back.

OAU students are suffering. The 72-hour lecture boycott by the students' union yielded no results. We had a very efficient transport system, and now we are forced by people who have their own private cars to enter CNG buses and motorcycles, which have proven to be very inefficient. To meet up with 9 AM classes, you have to leave your hostel by 6 AM. All motorcycles and commercial buses have been stopped. This is my fourth year in this school, and I have never experienced this type of queue. We are calling the attention of the public to the unnecessary plight OAU students have been subjected to. Please retweet for a wider audience whether you are an OAU student or not. We never asked for CNG buses. It should help make life better and not difficult for us

Distinction in Pathology, Distinction in Pharmacology. All in-course and EOPs above 70. I’ll come back to quote this. Today, I officially transitioned from working with cadavers to dealing with real human beings. That childhood dream of becoming a Medical Doctor has reached a major milestone. I’m stepping into the wards with gratitude for how far I’ve come and even more focus for the journey ahead.

In an interview with PM News, the OAU PRO said: “What they claimed was that around 7 to 9 am they normally queue up… we have rush hours everywhere in Nigeria. In Lagos, the rush hours start from even 4 am till 9 am… You do not now use that as yardstick to say we should go back to old system.” “Her Excellency… gave us 50 mass transit buses. So, I don’t know what they mean by they are not adequate.” “We don’t want a situation where they will pressure the management to bring back the backward system we have discarded.” “Even in the U.S., in Britain, if you want to enter train, you queue. What is the stress there?”

GREAT IFE STUDENTS' UNION OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE-IFE Ken Saro-Wiwa Building, OAU 🤳🏿Twitter: 🤳🏿 Instagram: 🤳🏿Facebook: February 19th, Thursday 2026 *STAND AGAINST CHARACTER ASSASSINATION AND THE PERILS OF CYBER-MOBBING: THE CASE OF DAVID AND THE FABRICATED ALLEGATIONS* Greatest Ife! Greatest Nigerian Students! Articulate Ife! Conscious Ife! The leadership of the Great Ife Students’ Union, under the banner of justice and fair hearing, finds it imperative to address the recent disturbing events circulating within our campus community and across digital spaces. The Union has been closely monitoring a situation involving a fellow student, David, who became the target of a vicious, coordinated campaign of harassment following a national trend of rape accusations. While the Great Ife Students’ Union maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), we are equally committed to protecting the dignity and safety of every student against unfounded "jungle justice" and character assassination. *The Incident* It has come to our attention that following a trending national narrative, a female student Adeife weaponized a sensitive movement to target David. In an act of extreme cyber-bullying, David’s contact information was shared across various groups and platforms, accompanied by instructions to harass and threaten him. The Union is appalled by the nature of the messages sent to David’s DM—messages wishing for the death of his parents and threatening his physical safety. We must be clear: The Great Ife campus is a place of learning and intellect, not a theater for lawlessness. The Triumph of Due Process We wish to commend David for his exemplary restraint and intellectual maturity. Rather than descending into the trenches of social media bickering, he chose the path of the "Conscious Ife" student. By documenting every threat and presenting his case to the University Security Unit, he has allowed the wheels of justice to turn appropriately. Upon being summoned by the Security Unit of The School Management , the accuser was unable to provide a single shred of evidence to corroborate her claims. The "rape story" has been exposed as a fabrication, and while an apology video has been released, the consequences of such a grave act of defamation must follow the University's disciplinary code. *Current Status* The University Security Council has taken the following actions: 1. Departmental Briefing: The executives of her department have been formally notified of the situation. 2. Ongoing Investigation: The unit is concluding its findings regarding the breach of the student code of conduct regarding false accusations and harassment. *Our Position* Let this serve as a stern warning to all students. The Union will not stand by while any student's life is put at risk through "propaganda" and digital witch hunts. While we encourage survivors to come forward and promise them our full protection, we will not allow the sacred cause of justice for survivors to be used as a tool for personal vendettas. Verify information before you repost. Think before you curse. A person’s life is not a social media "trend." Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta! Announcing: Olowosile Joseph Oreoluwa Public Relations Officer, Great Ife Students’ Union +2348021726450 Signed: Habeeb Oke ISA (OPEYEMI) Secretary General, Great Ife Students’ Union +2348061166277 Adelani David Oluwatodimu (Itabi) President, Great Ife Students’ Union +2348052753258
