Here’s Metallica. They play with no backing tracks. My search info was that they use tracks at the beginning of their songs. War sounds at the beginning of “One” or “Wherever I May Roam” sitar intro. Once they start a song there’s no secret guitar tracks. Motley uses tracks for background vocals, rhythm guitars under solos. Synthesizer tones. Since 1987. Which also means they’re playing to a click often I believe. Motley Vanilli Why do they “need” these backing tracks? 📷 I understand other bands use them too. I don’t support them doing this either. I want to hear live music. Flaws and all. There are exceptions. Solo performer at the bar for example

Growing up in Western New York we have Canadian radio stations. Bands like The Headstones, Tea Party, Moist, Our Lady Peace, The Hip were on our radios daily. I’m glad I grew up hearing these bands. Here’s The Tragically Hip in 1990 playing New Orleans Is Sinking
