This video brought joyful tears to my eyes this morning. Two years ago, my nanny decided to leave abruptly. I was rotating through general surgery with heavy patient load, frequent calls, and needed to stay in the hospital for several days during unit calls and patients that required us to operate till 2am. My husband had just closed for the year. So I had to drop our 10-month-old with him for about 3 weeks before I got another nanny. He bathed her. Fed her. Washed her hair. Spent quality time with her while I was at work. I didn't have to choose between my career and my child because he stepped up. This morning, that little girl, now 3 years old, knocked on my door and said: "Mummy, open the door. I want to greet you and Daddy." Oh, my word! Fully cohesive. Fully intentional. I can't believe how much she's grown. People talk about "having it all" like it's something you do alone. It's not. You can be an excellent surgeon AND an excellent mother, but not without a strong support system. Who you marry matters because they hold the line when you can't. I'm grateful for this man. And for the bond he built with our daughter when I couldn't be there. I can't even be jealous. Partnership isn't about splitting tasks 50/50.It's about stepping in 100% when your partner needs you to. Enjoy your weekend 😘

One of the things motherhood has taught me is that children don't just need provision. They need presence. And over the years, I've watched you build a relationship with our daughters that goes far beyond being their father. You're their safe space. Their playmate. Their storyteller. Their biggest cheerleader. The person they look for when they have met a new milestone, a new friend, a new experience. And sometimes, the person in whose arms they squeeze at 3am when they've abandoned their own beds. 😭😂 Thank you for showing up. Thank you for loving them so intentionally. Thank you for giving them memories that will shape how they see themselves and the world. Happy Father's Day to a wonderful husband and an even better dad.
