On December 23rd, 2014, Coptic released "You & Me" with Sarkodie & Ko-Jo Cue. That's one of my favourite Sarkodie English verse of all time. He rode the beat so effortlessly and Cue was magic. Now the song was part of Coptic's 'Rising Stars of GH Vol. III'. Two songs were released on the same day and the other was "Watch Out" ft. Stonebwoy. He called it 'Musical Christmas' gift. It's a compilation series he created to use his international platform to put Ghana's big names and blend with its upcoming talents on the same stage. "You & Me" was the 4th official single off 'Vol. III'. This was right after he'd got everybody talking with "Keep Shining" ft. M.anifest. So the man was on a roll. The pairing was deliberate. In 2014 Sark was already the powerhouse of African rap. 2x AOTY, 1x BET & 1x MAMA. YDL was the next lyrical marvel everybody was watching. One thing that made this record beautiful is the tangent both rappers took. On a normal day, Sark will always go for Cue's kinda witty 'adwaman' level topic but he did a break up verse rather. The two of them went into relationships: the boundaries, the bond, the complications that come with love. Production was solid with the adlibs of 'You & Me'. Sarkodie and Ko-jo Cue on this record was 🔥.

This was the last time Sarkodie performed at the Ghana Music Awards, the last song he performed and the last time he attended the scheme. It's arguably his best performance at the Ghana Music Awards. 10 mins straight with no backing. Just the landlord in his oversized all white suit killing the stage effortlessly.

At some point I was just fed up with the "God" thingy. Was arguing abt the existence of Him. Then Sarkodie dropped this track. No gospel artiste coulda changed my mindset about the Creator at the time. Even my mum couldn't convince me. Obidi did it with "Hope (Brighter Day)".
