#Lebanon has just raised one of the largest statues of #Jesus the Redeemer in the #MiddleEast, on Jabal al-Salib in Al Qaa, overlooking the Bekaa plain. A symbol of faith and hope, the wider religious site is still under construction as work on the church continues.

Christians all over Lebanon celebrate the Feast of the Cross with ceremonies, prayers, fireworks, large bonfires, traditional food, community gatherings ✝️🇱🇧 Today’s the Feast of the Cross. This day commemorates when Empress Helena discovered the Cross in 326 AD. Christians in Lebanon light up crosses above their houses all week long. To celebrate this day, they, like other Christians in the East, make fire pits on hills and peaks, with a cross in sight. The reason for lighting the fires is that when the Empress discovered the Cross, Christians and her soldiers sent word to Constantinople via fire pits, starting from the Holy Land all the way to Constantinople.
