This is one of the best passes that I have ever seen. Timber’s positioning was perfect. And the same could be said for Gabriel in the second clip. If it is Harry Kane that wins the Ballon d’Or, we cannot have any complaints. A truly elite professional.

What’s there to be happy about? Job’s not finished.

Transition monster. Ruthless finisher. Mental giant who creates separation in the box over and over again. Gyökeres does it ALL! 🔴⚪️

Mbappé’s hat-trick in the last World Cup final was something out of a supervillain movie. That second goal sunk my heart like never before. Messi was 10 minutes away from being the World Cup winner and Argentina blew a two goal lead in two minutes! 🤯

Madueke. In games where there’s as much space as there will be tonight, the angles are favourable for him to carry, drive, shoot, cross and run into space. He is fast as hell + has all of the technique in the world. On the left, he can play like this 👇

Scott McTominay is the optimal football litmus test. If you rate him, you know the game. There are so many clubs that would kill for his qualities, whether that be as a double #6 or as a #8.

The post Messi and Ronaldo era will be interesting. No clear standout as the very best player in the world. If Yamal can add repeated runs into the box without the ball at his feet, he can take that mantle. Messi was a genius with AND without the ball…

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen. Stretch the pitch as wide as possible, progress through the middle, only pass wide once central progression has been achieved. Top 👇

Gyökeres' last 20 shots. This short video tells you a lot about this player and his qualities. What do you see?

De Bruyne stayed high because he was a natural #10. Ødegaard doesn’t because he’s closer to a #8 in profile. Bernardo Silva is a legend of the game but Arsenal would have the same issues with him in the #10 as they do Ødegaard. It’s a profiling issue…

Feints. Drop of the shoulder. Creating separation. Tzolis ✌️

Counter-pressing. The best way to break down a low block.

Xabi Alonso’s father was a manager. He played as a #6, like many other top coaches. The ‘lighthouse’. He played in England, Spain, Germany. Coached by Pep, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Benitez, del Bosque, Aragonés… Destined for greatness with that education.

Mikel Arteta. The coaching benchmark for Europe’s elite.

Big Hürzeler fan. Too many modern coaches focus on positional play and total perfection with the ball and reduce defending to counter-pressing once possession is lost and locking on man-to-man in other moments. That’s disrespectful. That ain’t Hürzeler.

Resting the mind, my friend.

Tactical bravery & nous is what England lack in their DNA. Southgate brought togetherness but failed tactically. Tuchel was supposed to break that negative tradition by being brave tactically, but he failed in ALL knockout games despite laying a top blueprint in the qualifiers.

“(Eze is) a player that needs to be in touch with the ball.” Arteta knows. He always knows. Trust him. Trust him with your life. He will not let you down.

Hundreds flocked to criticise me when I said Arsenal were exceptional, but the manager thinks the same.

Massively rooting for Liam Rosenior. Why? Because he is his own man with his own belief system and he does what he believes is right. That got him the Chelsea job where he has shown TOP potential. So what if nobodies don’t like it and vilify him?

Nice insights from England's assistant coach last night at half-time.
