“Someone stole our god, and if someone has been able to steal the god, how can it protect this community?” Krobohene Nana Asa Akonpanin has recounted his decision, together with the support of his community, to dedicate the traditional stool land to Jesus Christ after the community’s gods were allegedly stolen. According to the chief, the gods could not even protect themselves from being stolen, prompting him, with the backing of the community, to hand over the stool land to Jesus Christ. He added that the decision has since transformed the community, with residents witnessing significant progress and development.

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of 40-year-old gold buyer Seth Kobina at Agona Fie near Agona Nkwanta. Kobina was shot in the chest during a robbery at his gold-buying shop on August 20 and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Agona Nkwanta Hospital. Police investigations and CCTV footage identified Emmanuel Amponsah alias “Vandam” as the alleged leader. He was arrested the following day but later died after being rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital. Four other suspects have since been arrested, with locally manufactured pistols, ammunition, cutlasses and other items recovered. Police say the suspects are assisting with investigations as efforts continue to arrest other accomplices.

A security guard at Mim Senior High School, known as “Obonto,” has reportedly been caught after allegedly pressuring a female student into having an affair with him. According to reports, the guard allegedly threatened to expose the student for leaving campus without permission if she refused his advances. He was intercepted by some students before he could make any advances and was allegedly subjected to a slight beating.
