When this sermon went viral years ago, one of my CLOSEST, white evangelical friends told me, “Dewey, this sermon was pathetic!” After MUCH debate, we agreed to disagree! THIS morning, he sent me this clip & said, “Dewey, I was wrong, Dr. Jeremiah Wright was prophetic!”. I’m still chuckling! Please KNOW that you can both love AND criticize America simultaneously!

Smith Sr. served as the Senior Pastor of Macedonia Church in Macon, Georgia before retiring after 50 years in 2022. Pastor Smith Senior was known for his inspiring, spirit filled sermons. As a child, he sung with the quartet group Morning Stars Jr. He subsequently spent over 20 years as the lead singer of The Morning Stars of Macon, Georgia. In 2012, he released a 5 song EP, which included the remake of The Blind Boys of Mississippi’s “You’ve Done What The Doctor Could Not Do.” In 2022, the city of Macon renamed part of Second Street in honor of Pastor Smith, Sr. Like his father, Pastor E.
