Another “rave in the nave” took place in Canterbury Cathedral this evening — on the Feast of the Assumption. The “silent disco” of 80s music had two sessions running from 6.30pm to midnight. In 1170, St Thomas Becket was martyred in the cathedral, a profoundly sacred place of worship that is of great religious and historical significance to England. In 2007, Fr. Robert Francis Prevost, then prior general of the Augustinians, celebrated vespers with Pope Benedict XVI in Pavia, Italy, the site of the tomb of St. Augustine. The future Pope Leo XIV gave these comments for a documentary on Pope Benedict we produced the following year called “The Papacy of Reason — Inside the Mind of Benedict XVI.”
