Sometimes I start a warmup animation, get bored halfway through and decide to absolutely destroy the rig instead I can't be the only one who does this out of pure boredom, right?!

In my experience, the eyes often carry more weight in facial animation than the mouth or cheeks. I try to give the eyes a little more attention so they feel right.

Video reference is crucial for all animators, even professionals. There’s always something interesting to discover in the reference, and iterating on it is also quick.

A study shot my student Sanaz reimagined from Claynosaurz. She’s only been doing CGI for three months, but her 2D background really shows in her animation.

We used tons of reference on Spice Frontier. Animators helped each other out—Don’t hesitate to ask a friend to act out your shot, sometimes they’re the perfect stand-in. Big thanks to Scott Wiser for the fantastic references! I didn’t use any references for this second shot.

⭐️ Free Tool for Blender Animators ⭐️ It's been a while since I've been thinking about making something like this for Blender, so I could have an easier time animating in this software. It's a set of 16 sliders from my Maya Animo toolset.

🚀 Spacify – A Free Powerful Space Switching Tool for Animators I used to struggle with complex animations until I discovered the power of Space Switching. It's included in Animo, which is completely free. If you'd like to try it, you can grab it from my Gumroad page.

When I started learning animation I thought of keys as the important poses everything is built around. Over time I started seeing it differently. Every moment can be a key moment. “Keys” are useful for learning references. But when you're actually animating every frame matters.

Some beginners feel that using video reference is ‘cheating’ but it really isn’t. It’s simply a helpful tool for discovering interesting choices and nuances we might not come up with on our own.

Saw this performance back in 2020 and had to try a quick animation test. A few months ago, I revisited it using Ramon rigs, which was such a refreshing experience. I’ve always loved close-up shots :)

⚡️FREE TOOL⚡️ I decided to release a tool I developed last year for free called PICKIFY. PICKIFY is a free powerful selection set tool for animators, unlike any other. It lets you assign a hotkey to select sets instantly and easily hide or show parts of a geometry.

Vectorify is a free, powerful tool for animators that makes repathing animations easy. It works seamlessly with biped and quadruped cycles but isn’t limited to them. You can repath any animation in just a few clicks. Download Link:
