What should’ve been a great night out in Navy Yard turned into something we’re seeing far too often. Sitting at dinner at Takumi (one of the newest additions to the neighborhood) this was the view: chaos spilling into the streets, fights breaking out, and large groups of teens running through the area after yet another reckless event at the Bullpen. This isn’t a one-off—it’s a repeat pattern, and it’s happening later and later into the night. Residents and visitors should be able to enjoy a beautiful day, support new businesses, and have a peaceful meal without worrying about safety or disruption. At some point, we have to ask: how many times does this need to happen before real accountability and prevention measures are put in place? #NavyYard #Teentakeover #DC

As a DC Navy Yard resident, this hits too close to home. This open green space is one of the few spots in the neighborhood where locals, myself included can simply walk our dogs, unwind, and feel a sense of community amid all the surrounding buildings. Seeing this unfold here is just terrifying! 🎥 credit: Rob #NavyYard

A resident told me this morning she had just gotten into bed and was home alone when sirens suddenly began echoing throughout the neighborhood. Like many nearby residents, she stepped outside to see what was happening as emergency vehicles continued arriving. Neither of us got much sleep. This morning, we talked about how unsettling and frightening it was to watch everything unfold overnight. Public safety isn’t just a statistic. It’s the ability to go to bed without being jolted awake by violence outside your window. It’s feeling safe in your own home. Behind every crime report are real people, real neighbors, and real communities carrying the emotional impact long after the sirens fade. These photos capture part of what unfolded last night. The concern residents are feeling this morning cannot be captured in a picture. We appreciate the swift response from first responders. But residents are increasingly asking a difficult question: How many more nights like this will our community have to endure? #NavyYard #DCcrime

From a rural town, I requested a safe place I thought was a Northwest, DC assignment but was placed in the roughest areas in Southeast, DC. Initially a setback, it became a blessing. Southeast DC has now become my home, and the community here has become an integral part of my life and my future endeavors. The experiences and challenges shaped me beyond imagination. As one door closes, another one I prayed for opens. This is just the beginning. 🙏🏽✨ #DCresident #NewBeginnings #thinblueline #Lawenforcement #femaleempowerment #DC #FightingCrime

I woke up to a lot of comments saying things like, “I don’t see any crime, Elissa,” or “It’s just kids being kids it’s Halloween,” or that “parents should handle this.” But as someone who ACTUALLY lives here in Navy Yard, it’s not that simple. The intent behind my post was not to claim an “active crime in progress.” It’s about safety awareness both for neighbors who live here and for others who might be heading into the area unaware of what’s been happening. It’s also about calling attention to a growing problem and encouraging more consistent measures, like continuing curfews and increased community support. When large groups like this gather, they’re not just standing around playing board games. They’re damaging property, running into residents with bikes, screaming at people, climbing on cars and poles and causing general chaos. This isn’t about kids hanging out. It’s about safety and respect for the community and for the people who live here, work here, and walk their dogs here every night. Those of us who call this home have every right to be concerned when what should be a fun evening turns into something unsafe and destructive. 🎥 Rapid Report #NavyYard

Last night in Navy Yard looked like another juvenile takeover. Just last weekend there was a curfew in place, yet here we are again with fights breaking out, property being damaged, and gunshots ringing out. The warmer days aren’t even here yet, and the chaos has already started. Accountability, safety, and real solutions can’t wait until summer. #NavyYard #WashingtonDC #JuvenileCrime #CommunitySafety #PublicSafety

It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and once again the question comes up: why isn’t there a curfew being enforced? On any normal weekend in our city, we already see groups of juveniles out late at night running around, causing chaos, getting into fights, damaging property, and putting themselves and others at risk. When you add a holiday weekend with bigger crowds and more activity, the situation only gets worse. A curfew isn’t about punishment it’s about safety and accountability. It helps keep young people out of dangerous situations and gives law enforcement and community leaders another tool to prevent problems before they escalate. Parents, guardians, and community members all play a role too. Knowing where our kids are, who they’re with, and what they’re doing matters — especially on busy weekends like this one. Public safety isn’t just about reacting after something happens. It’s about preventing chaos before it starts and making sure everyone residents, visitors, and our youth can enjoy the weekend safely. #NavyYard #DCcrime FOX 5 DC John Gonzalez NBC4 Washington

Humbled to join Jesse Watters Primetime as a DC resident on Fox News to shed light on the pressing issue of crime in our Nation’s Capital-Washington D.C. Reality hits hard – just days after this segment, a security officer was stabbed at a local Safeway, a woman attacked and pepper-sprayed and more CVS stores and other businesses shut down in the area. Our neighborhoods are losing vital resources! When will this end, and what will it take to make our streets safer? Let’s tackle the tough topics and the tough odors – advocating for change to make our city safer. Deodorant companies, I’m ready to promote a fresh approach and a safer DC! 💪🏽 . . #CrimeTalks #FreshStartDC #DCcrime #FoxNews #JesseWattersPrimetime #TV #Crime #CVS #accountability #criminaljusticesystem #deodorant #DCCommunity #RevitalizeLocalShops #toughoncrime #toughodors Jesse Watters Fox News
