Elon Musk: “My mind often feels like a very wild storm. I have a fountain of ideas. I have more ideas than I can possibly execute, so I have no shortage of ideas. Innovation is not the problem, execution is the problem. I’ve got an entire design for an electric supersonic vertical takeoff jet, but I just can’t do that as well. I’ve had that for 10 years. I think to some degree I was born this way, and then it was amplified by a difficult childhood. I can remember, even in the happy moments when I was a kid, that it feels like a rage of forces in my mind, constantly. Now this productively manifests itself in technology and building things for the most part. I think on balance the output has been very productive.”

Elon Musk: "If somebody executes well, I'm a huge fan, and if they don't, I'm not. I generally think it's a good idea to hire for talent, and drive, and trustworthiness. And I think goodness of heart is important—I undervalued that at one point. So, are they a good person, trustworthy, and smart, talented, and hardworking. If so, you can add domain knowledge. But those fundamental traits, those fundamental properties, you cannot change."
