You’re right. I saw them. I took vacation days off from my day job and visited this government RV storage location in Florida. We begged for these RVs for the families we are trying to help. We told them we had a 103 yo WWII veteran who lost his home to #Helene and who needed shelter. Our collective tax dollars paid for these RVs but our efforts to secure even 1 of these “government RVs” for a WWII Veteran was fruitless. “He lives in a floodplain…that’s against regulations…sorry we can’t help you or him”. We learned a valuable lesson that day. We only have each other and can get things done more quickly and efficiently by working together, people helping people is how the good work gets done. We found a veteran rv donor and the WWII veteran who recently celebrated his 104th birthday now has shelter. EmergencyRV

David Plott is 78 and a master carpenter by trade. The Georgia wildfires took his home and everything he owned. His converted school bus burned to the ground. His two cats are still missing, and he’s holding onto hope they’ll find their way home. For weeks, he’s been sleeping in his small car. Some nights on a bench. Yesterday, that changed. We handed David the keys to an EmergencyRV. It’s his home now. It was a good day. Together, we can bring light into the darkest human moments. Every RV we place means another person is no longer sleeping in a tent or a car and back inside a home with a door that locks and a stove to make a home cooked meal again. Shelter is such a basic human need. Help us shelter more people who lost their homes in the Georgia Wildfires. • If you lost your home to a natural disaster and need shelter: • To donate your RV (good working order) for the full appraised value, tax-deductible: • To volunteer with us: • To support our work sheltering disaster impacted families with a tax-deductible donation: After all, we are all in this together. #nonprofit #wildfire #emergencyrv

We gifted an EmergencyRV to a Veteran and his 28 yo daughter with special needs today in Bat Cave, NC. FEMA refused to cross a creek, two inches deep, to evaluate his property that was destroyed by a mudslide in #helene. FEMA told the Vet they “couldn’t get their tires wet.” Meanwhile, our Veteran and his daughter slept in the rain and used the bathroom in a bucket. Not on our watch EmergencyRV Help us. We have over 700 families, including families on our waiting list seeking shelter: James Gabriel @HollyCape79846 Woody Faircloth

Here are some others who rushed in to help after Hurricane Helene destruction in WNC. They cleared storm debris from the lot of a veteran so we could place an RV that he could live in with his elderly mother and child with special needs after their home was destroyed. A Farmer from Minnesota, a truck driver from West Virginia, a veteran/small business owner from NC and a firefighter from NY. All volunteers. All good people. Focus on them instead.

When FEMA leaves the disaster zone, our work continues. The flooding from Hurricane Helene left Mark Searles’ home uninhabitable and the FEMA trailer he lived in for months was suddenly no longer available. The rebuilding of Mark’s home was not complete and with FEMA winding down their Helene shelter program, he was left with no options for shelter. Volunteer Florida told us his story and connected us with Mark, this week our team delivered an RV to him and he now has a safe place to live while continuing to rebuild and recover. This is the work we’re honored to do. People helping people when it matters most.

This is what disaster response actually looks like. We sheltered 120 families displaced by Hurricane Helene, including veterans like this one who lost everything. No agenda. Just people helping people. And it wasn’t just us, there were countless volunteers and organizations who selflessly responded to fellow Americans in their time of need. Any of whom would have made a better story than what you chose to focus on. Do better.

Sherri S. lost her home in North Cove near Marion, NC. The entire RV parked she lived in washed away during #helene. She contacted EmergencyRV and told us she didn’t know what she was going to do. Thanks to the Genson from Ohio who donated their family’s 5th wheel to EmergencyRV and the Taylor family, HBTFD - Thats what I told ‘em, who stepped up and simply said, “we want to help”. They drove from their home in GA to Ohio, picked up the RV and delivered it to Sherri. 1503 miles and 23 hours on the road to help a neighbor they had never met. People helping people is how we do this at Sleep well Sherri and yes, we agree, Ohioans are ok!!! 🇺🇸 has over 300 families and singles, like Sherri on our waiting list for shelter. The Mills family received their gifted EmergencyRV donation this weekend from the Thomas family at the Statesville I-77 RV Park. Holly and everyone else at this veteran owned RV park are Angels and went above and beyond to make this precious #helene survivor family feel welcome. The Mills family of 5, lost their home to a mudslide near Marion, NC, North Cove area. The best news of all is that the hospital agreed to discharge their youngest son, Waylon, today now that he has a place to call home again! When I asked the Thomas family why they were donating their RV, they told me: “God takes you where he needs you” We couldn’t agree more. Please also continue to pray for the Mills family and their son Waylon, the Thomas family who are dealing with a recent Stage IV Malignant Melanoma cancer diagnosis of Mrs. Thomas, all of the volunteers and all of the groups of volunteers making these miracles possible and the families we will continue to help by providing shelter. It’s truly amazing what we can do as Americans by working together to help each other. Please help us help more families who need shelter. Thanks to our supporters and donors there is no charge to anyone involved for the work we do at helping these families who need shelter. Amen ❤️

Another EmergencyRV delivered to a WNC Hurricane Helene Survivor who told me he had lost all hope. Vernon lost his home to a landslide. He slept in his car for weeks then moved into an unheated trailer that his neighbors were disposing of that had been used to shelter dogs for years. He met with FEMA who denied his claim. Vernon told me he can’t wait to cook some cornbread in his new kitchen and have his twin granddaughters come visit him. He also told us he plans to volunteer with EmergencyRV going forward. His story is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. Help us help more survivors like Vernon. 1 of 2

Luna and I hitched a ride from Knoxville, TN to the Veteran owned Statesville I-77 RV Park where dozens of #Helene survivors have found shelter. Holly L who is the manager of the park gave us a little tour today on her day off. EmergencyRV and our RV donors have gifted multiple RVs at this safe haven of survivors and families who are healing their shared Helene trauma. The most basic human needs include safety (shelter), love and belonging, community, being kind and receiving kindness among others. These families are finding it here. Sharing a short video of some of their stories and a look into the shelter we have provided them at the RV park. All photos and information used with permission of the recipients. If you have ever needed a reason to donate your RV in good working order for the full appraised value as a tax donation.
