It’s been an eventful two days on my quiet little street in Grand Rapids. Thanks to the windstorm last night, we suffered a power surge down our street, frying people’s furnaces and multiple other appliances. This evening, my sweet neighbor’s house caught fire, believed to be a result of the surge impact from last night. A lot of people in need of encouragement and prayer, especially so close to Christmas.

I met Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in 2016. One of my international contacts had reached out to me the year before about a teenager “with a hack as beautifully violent as his father.” As I covered Vladdy over the years to come, he always told me how he was “just thankful” to be able to play the game that’s been a part of his entire life.
