It’s been an eventful two days on my quiet little street in Grand Rapids. Thanks to the windstorm last night, we suffered a power surge down our street, frying people’s furnaces and multiple other appliances. This evening, my sweet neighbor’s house caught fire, believed to be a result of the surge impact from last night. A lot of people in need of encouragement and prayer, especially so close to Christmas.

I met Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in 2016. One of my international contacts had reached out to me the year before about a teenager “with a hack as beautifully violent as his father.” As I covered Vladdy over the years to come, he always told me how he was “just thankful” to be able to play the game that’s been a part of his entire life. He’s wanted and worked for every bit of what he’s accomplished. I’ve admittedly teared up watching the videos reflecting the emotion of that same teenager, only this time, he’s not 16 anymore. He’s World Series bound. #BlueJays

Max Clark BP. Spoke with him a moment ago and he said this is his favorite temperature to play in. Tell me you’re a Midwest kid without telling me you’re a Midwest kid.

#Tigers High-A RHP Carlos Lequerica (6’1, 198 lbs.) has been nearly untouchable in relief for West Michigan. In 27 of his 32 outings this season, the 24-year-old Miami alum did not allow an earned run. I sat down with him to discuss his pitch mix. ▶️ 4-seam fastball: 91-94, t95 MPH ▶️ Changeup: 83-86 MPH ▶️ Slider: 84-87 MPH

Reps behind the plate for #Tigers Thayron Liranzo. Spoke with several pitchers in Arizona who praised Liranzo’s dedication to improving behind the plate. “He really puts in the work,” one pitcher said. “He’s a great communicator and picks up on new pitchers pretty quick. Dude is really hungry to get better. You just see it in how he works.”
