I like him, but I have to disagree with The Buddy CSM. I think the biggest “high” from the military that I’ll never be able to chase down again is that feeling when you know there is a secondary IED, and then you find it. Specifically when you know American troops have to operate in the area. Firefights were intense, but not a feeling I wish to chase. >Calling up “hey, there’s another one here, hold what you got” >the infantry guys in security posture. >Hearing the radio call that the airspace has been restricted and you’re good to pull the shot. >the sound of rocks and rouge frag zipping by during the detonation >Hunkering down against the side of the vehicle to stay safe >radioing up that actions are complete and you’re good to continue mission

My interview with SGM Mike Vining (SGM Mike Vining @ Blasting Through Official) Next weekend, the EOD Community will gather in Florida to remember our fallen. People will travel from all over the world to raise a glass to our friends who have left us and be with the community. I promised that leading up to the event I would post some interviews that I had done with members of EOD family. SGM Mike Vining is a national treasure. He is a founding member of Delta Force, but what most people dont know is that he got his start as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. This interview really focuses on that position of his life and career. I hope that you will give it a watch.

It's the best time of the week! Time for another episode of It's A Blast Podcast! This week, I am talking to SGM (R) Mike Vining. Mike is a military legend. From his time as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in Vietnam, to the founding of the United States Army's premiere counter terrorism force, Delta Force, he has done it all. In this episode, We sat down and talked about his time in the Army to include being EOD, Vietnam, civilian life, and the founding of Delta Force. I even asked him some of the questions you all asked. And of course I had to ask about the Hurt Locker. It was great to sit down and talk EOD. SGM Vining has done a lot of interviews about his time in Delta, so this was a piece of the story that needed to be told. There were a couple of minor technical issues in the beginning of the recording. SGM Vining even offered to rerecord the entire episode, but it would have lost some of the magic. On Apple and Spotify and all other streaming platforms tomorrow!

Mary and I have been friends for years and hearing her story with such detail is hard, but it is a story that needs to be told. Her story of being the first female in her unit, the family that she found in her team, and her recovery are worth listening to. Mary is an incredible human being. Army Emergency Relief is doing everything they can to help Soldiers during the government shutdown. It’s honestly awesome to see. The biggest issue they are having is that there is so much demand their site is crashing. I suppose that’s a good problem to have.
