A Century of Missteps: How the US Helped the CCP Survive, and Become Its Greatest Adversary | Xi Van Fleet Xi Van Fleet grew up in China during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution. She was too young to be a real revolutionary Red Guard, but old enough to observe the astonishing scenes of violence and ideological fervor around her during those terrible years. Jan Jekielek sat down with her to discuss her new book, “Made in America: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Enabled Communist China and Created Our Greatest Threat.” She says she felt compelled to write this book to help Americans understand the true nature of communism. Over the past hundred years or so, the United States has made one grave mistake after another because of this major blind spot, she says. In the American Thought Leaders 🇺🇸 with @JanJekielek deep-dive interview, Van Fleet takes him on a tour of China’s history starting in the late 19th century and explains how America—over and over again—made decisions that helped the Chinese Communist Party: first to gain influence, then to defeat the Nationalists led by Chiang Kai-shek, and eventually to rescue the CCP from certain collapse in the 1970s. By visiting Beijing and re-opening US-China relations at a time when China’s economy was in shambles, President Richard Nixon effectively “saved the CCP from the ruins,” she says. The history of how the United States helped the CCP survive is “hidden history,” as she calls it, one that is not taught in the schools and not discussed publicly: “A lot of people want to hide it. But in order for us to understand, we have to learn this very, very important piece of history that my book is all about.”

Flávio Bolsonaro (Flávio Bolsonaro) told me he is “ready to rescue my country’s democracy” from lawfare and political persecution. This may be one of the most consequential elections in Brazilian history. “There is a lot of political persecution… symbolized by President Jair Bolsonaro, the greatest victim of this lawfare,” he says. “He was convicted not because of corruption, money laundering, or a violent crime.” “He was convicted for standing up for the truth and not kowtowing to a system that persecuted and interfered with his administration.” “Given he is now barred from running for President, he has named me as the candidate.”

I remember, after 34 felony convictions, he turned around, shook my hand. We walked out together, we hopped in the car, and we were actually going to a fundraiser. We were in court by day, fundraising by night. And I remember, as soon as we got in the car, he looked at me, and he goes, “I don’t know how, but we’re gonna win.” And he wasn’t just talking about the court case, but the overall election. You had every press member in the back of those courtrooms, and they were giving him a zero percent chance. And it’s funny, in his early life, he wrote “The Art of the Deal.” Then his second book was “The Art of the Comeback,” talking about his business career in the ‘90s, when everybody thought he was down and out. And it’s the perfect parallel. I mean, this was the comeback. No one would ever have thought a guy who was just charged with 91 felony convictions—for doing nothing wrong, but because we had a system that was totally weaponized against him—could ultimately become president. And not only did he become president, he won every swing state. He won the popular vote; every state in the nation went to the right. We picked up 11 counties in California that had never been Republican. Miami Dade, which hadn’t been Republican in 37 years, we won by 11 percent. You want to talk about the art of the comeback? It was a great foreshadowing in his early life, when he named that book, of exactly where we sat a year ago. Eric Trump Opens Up About How Relentless Attacks Impacted Him and His Family

Alina Fernández, Cuba's former dictator Fidel Castro's daughter, has a message about communism. ALINA: Communism doesn't work for people because people have no right under a communist regime. You don't have freedom. You don't have choices. You're not allowed to have a religion. It's so oppressive. And then it doesn't recognize private property. The sense of property, the sense of having something, of aspire to something is very important for the human being. This regime or this system goes against the basic instinct of a human being.
