The start of the 2026 NFL season feels different for me. Last spring I made the decision to bet on myself. I went to the UFL knowing exactly what I was chasing. I wasn’t trying to prove that I could play football. I already believed that. I was trying to put myself back in position to earn another opportunity in the NFL. I trained, competed, stayed healthy, kept my head down, and did everything I could to make sure that when another door opened, I was ready to walk through it. That opportunity came. I didn’t get to go through OTA‘s and learn the playbook inside and out. But when I got in, I believe I grasped the information pretty fast. Ultimately, which was the goal I got back into an NFL building, went through an entire training camp and preseason, competed every day, contributed on offense, special teams and in the return game, scored a touchdown, made plays when my number was called, blocked, returned kicks and showed that I could still help a football team in multiple ways. There were people covering camp who saw it. There were people watching the games who saw it. Most importantly, I know what I put on film. And after all of that, I’m sitting here at the beginning of the regular season not on a team That part is difficult to explain unless you’ve lived this business. You can do a lot of things right and still not get the outcome you expected. You can sacrifice, perform, stay ready and still be told there isn’t a spot for you. Football doesn’t always reward you immediately for what you put into it. I proved to myself that I still belong at this level. That journey alone took belief. There were plenty of moments where it would have been easier to accept where my career was, move on and stop chasing it. I didn’t. This post isn’t a cry for help, sympathy or attention. I’m not asking anybody to feel sorry for me. This is me documenting my journey. It’s a reminder to myself of what I’ve already overcome, and it’s also a reminder to the football world that I’m still here. I’m 26 years old. 6’3”, I can play receiver, contribute on special teams, return kicks, block, play multiple spots and step into a building ready to work. I’ve been through NFL camps. I’ve played NFL football. I’ve gone through the UFL route. I’ve had to earn opportunities the hard way. And every part of that experience has made me a better, tougher and more complete player. Right now, the hardest part is accepting that I don’t control when the phone rings. What I do control is whether I’m ready when it does. So that’s what the next chapter is about. Training. Staying healthy. Staying sharp. Continuing to improve my game. Keeping my body ready and making sure that whenever a team needs a receiver, returner or special teams player, I don’t need weeks to prepare. I want to be able to get on a plane, walk into a building and compete immediately. I’ve already bet on myself once and found my way back into the NFL. I’m willing to bet on myself again. Maybe my opportunity comes tomorrow. Maybe it comes weeks from now. Maybe the road looks completely different than I imagined. I don’t know. But I do know this: I didn’t come this far just to come this far. Everything I put into this game, every workout, every rehab session, every practice, every rep, every sacrifice, every time I questioned whether continuing was worth it. Brought me to this point. And I’m still standing. Still working. Still ready. The 2026 season is starting, and for the first time in a long time I’ll be watching instead of preparing for Week 1 with a team. That hurts. I won’t pretend that it doesn’t. But my story with football isn’t finished because I’m not with a team today. Sometimes betting on yourself means believing before anybody else has a reason to. So this is me reminding myself and anybody in this league who may eventually need me that I’m ready for the next opportunity. Whenever it comes. The work continues.
