Indian Coast Guard boarding a Maldivian fishing vessel has left everyone, including myself extremely worried and confused. The govt must provide accurate information to the Parliament. Security does not depend on weaponry alone. Security for Maldives has always been through peaceful co- existence; with the peaceful movement of people and goods. Belligerency and fear- mongering cannot have a place in our foreign policy. We cannot flex our way to security.

“މާލޭ މީހުންގެ ބޯހިޔާވަހިކަމަކީ ވޯޓަކަށް ޓަކައި އުކައިލާ އެންގަނޑަކަށް ނަހަދާށޭ! މާލޭ މީހުންގެ އެ ޒަރޫރީ އެދުން، ބޯހިޔާވަހިކަމަށް އެ އެދޭއެދުން އެއީ ސަލާންޖަހަން ނަހަދާށޭ! މާލޭ މީހުން ލައްވައި އާދޭސްކުރުވަން ނަހަދާށޭ!“ For 5 years we pleaded in Majlis, to expedite Malé housing pledge. Submitted questions to the Minister, submitted resolutions, passed reports in Majlis We are asking the current government also, again, to not use Malé housing as bait for votes.
