I’ve been along the River for 30 years….this might be the thickest ice we’ve had on the River. No ice breakers coming. This will have to melt on its own. Ice jams will be a concern across New England this spring. We need a slow warm up with little rain to prevent big problems.

👀 Wow. This is the #CTRiver yesterday in Bloomfield, VT!! Video and commentary from Paul Raffenello: “Sitting in my house this afternoon I thought heard a hurricane outside. Stepping onto my porch I found the Connecticut River in full fury! An ice dam about a 1/4 mile up the river let loose. Chunks and 20' x 40' slabs were roaring by the house. You can hear on the video, crunching ice and trees on the bank cracking and being ripped from the river bank. The railroad and roadway bridges seem undamaged. There is another dam down river by the North Stratford railroad siding. Mother nature in all her glory!“

Nobody likes all this rain but it’s especially tough for #farmers. Wallingford CT…heading out this am to harvest corn & this is what it looks like.
