I’m still so happy that Final Fantasy XVI had an explicit on screen gay romance. It’s genuinely so heartwarming to me and a huge step forward for representation in mainstream media.

It's the way Aerith's body just drops lifeless into the water that breaks me here, like, the game really nails down the fact that she dies and there's no coming back from it (in the conventional sense).

Jokes aside, building up the unbeatable miniboss from the start of the game as something you can't beat by conventional means only to find one effortlessly killed by the antagonist we still know nothing about is perfect writing in making your villain as ominous as possible.

This entire sequence almost feels like something out of a psychological horror.

I like these moments because we can see how genuinely kindhearted Sephiroth was as a person before Nibelheim. He cared for his friends even in the perspective of them ‘betraying him’ and tried his best to stay composed despite that.
