BREAKING NEWS | Federal prosecutors have charged two North Texas men, Gavin Rivers Weisenburg and Tanner Christopher Thomas, with conspiring to invade Haiti’s La Gonave Island and commit mass violence against its residents. They are Gavin Rivers Weisenburg, 21 years old and Tanner Christopher Thomas, 20 years old. According to the indictment, the men planned to kill all male inhabitants, then enslave women and children for sexual exploitation. Investigators say the pair took concrete steps toward the operation, including researching weapons and maritime logistics, attempting to acquire a sailboat, recruiting a small “mercenary” group, and studying Haitian Creole. Prosecutors also allege that Thomas joined the U.S. Air Force to gain tactical skills for the planned assault, while Weisenburg pursued training in firefighting and sailing. Both men face federal charges for conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country as well as separate child exploitation offenses.
