Dom Mysterio was one of the 4 main opponents I wanted for John Cena during this retirement tour. Last night showed why. A showcase of how much magic lies in the simplicities. A match with so much energy and life. A match that feels like perhaps the final feel-good moment of John Cena’s career. I’m so glad it happened, I’m even happier I enjoyed it like I did.

December 9th, 2013. A crowd that wanted to see anybody and anything else than these two at it again. A stale rivalry, a segment that should have been dead on arrival. John Cena gives the crowd what they want, and completely turns the ship around. A master at crowd control and crowd response. Turning this into a speech about hard work, passion, and perseverance even against all odds. One of his finest moments.

January 6th, 2025. The Netflix debut is one of the worst RAWs in recent memory, except for this one bright spot. John Cena spelling out the reality of who he currently is, but still making people believe. Believe in his tagline, believe in his resolve, believe in his fight. This is John Cena at his very best, taking a narrative and turning it into hope and life. Miracles don’t have to just be dreams, and Cena’s words and conviction in this are the proof.

One of the more unique and exciting WWE TV matches that flies under-the-radar. Dynamic, energetic, and a ton of fun.

This is such a random thing but I’ve genuinely never seen this before. This is a really cool camera shot and visual. Really smooth stuff.

December 26th, 2014. The night my dad took me to see my first ever live wrestling show at Madison Square Garden. The main event, a street fight between Seth Rollins and John Cena. It was the best Christmas gift 9-year-old me could ever ask for. I found this video again after all this time, and it overwhelmed me with memories of that experience. Tonight, nearly 11 years later, I get to go to Madison Square Garden once again to see my favorite wrestler live one final time. To say it’s going to be an emotional and incredible night would be an understatement. The Last Time truly is Now. One final time in NYC. One final time in MSG. One final time seeing The Greatest of All Time. One final time, seeing John Cena ❤️

John Cena showing off his tape collection, talking about buying tapes, talking about actually watching tapes and talking about the importance of preserving/watching as much wrestling as you can from as many time periods as you can is one of the best things you’ll see.

February 20th, 2012. The best promo of the original Cena/Rock feud in my opinion. A passionate, fiery speech about the love of professional wrestling, being a professional wrestler, and all of John’s gripes with Dwayne Johnson. Selling not just a match, not just a fight, but a genuine hatred and a burning desire. One of Cena’s most captivating outings on the mic.

John Cena and CM Punk haven’t wrestled since February 25th, 2013. A match that was never billed as a finale to what I consider to be the greatest rivalry ever, but yet is the most perfect ending I could ever think of for their story. An epic that’ll live on forever and is not only the greatest TV match of all time, but in my opinion the second greatest match in the history of wrestling. Wrestling soulmates do the dance one final time, and it’s magic.

One of the final matches of the 2010s for John Cena, and it’s a ton of fun. Just a true and proper all-star tag.

While he’s tangling with all these legends, I’d love to see Gunther run it back with Rey Mysterio as some sort of roadblock on Rey’s path to the finish line. A living reality check or reminder. Their TV match is sick, but they have a better one in them with a richer narrative.

The GOAT’s final match is everything I wanted it to be and more. A final dance you could never truly prepare for. Emotionally fierce and poetically heartbreaking, this is the send off match you want for someone the caliber of John Cena. I tried to do it justice, I’ll never be able to. The Last Time was indeed now, and what a time it was ❤️

September 27th, 2016. John Cena breaks down his work ethic and why he is where he is. A calm, yet poignant takedown of the narratives surrounding his schedule and commitment. While also simultaneously putting over the weight of making history. It’s the type of promo very few in history can pull off.

One of the most emotional and personal matches I’ll ever watch. On its surface, a super fun and entertaining all-star tag. Filled with tributes, life, and constant action. Beyond that, it’s a match that’ll forever mean the world to me. A TV sendoff worthy of the spirit and heart of John Cena.
