🐐It all starts with our fresh goat milk that I culture for 36 hours and turn into the creamiest, probiotic-rich, yogurt. 🫒From there, raw shea butter, olive oil, grass-fed tallow, coconut oil, and essential oils are blended together. 🫗A cooled lye solution is then slowly blended with all the above ingredients, my soaps never reach above 90° F, this is to ensure that all the ingredients stay viable. ✔️Lye is a reactant, after its done its job of saponification (turning fat/oil into soap) none remains in the final product. I ensure this through "super fatting" the soap batter, which means adding an additional 5% butters and oils. 📝 True bar soap cannot be made without lye (sodium hydroxide) Even liquid castile soap is made with lye (potassium hydroxid) and its a great mild soap! ❤️ 🫗The soap batter is poured into molds, kept cool, and they harden overnight. 🧼They are then removed from the molds and placed on the shelf to cure and dry for 6-8 weeks. The longer they set, the milder they become. In this video, I'm making Orange and Calendula goat yogurt soap, the orange essential oil is what gives it the nice color at the end.
