Through the transition it flips, and after menopause it falls about 0.6% a year while fat gain nearly doubles. We also start 30 to 35% behind men in absolute muscle mass. The transition widens a gap that was already there. So the stake is whether you can get off the floor unaided at eighty, whether your blood sugar stays in range, and whether your bones become brittle.
