“Caitlin and I text a lot… she’s got new adventures and new mountains to climb. But, she’ll text… big games, win, lose, draw… that kid is, she’s with me, and I think she knows I’m with her. One time Taylor Stremlow got a technical… and Caitlin tweeted quickly about it, but we had a funny text exchange bc Caitlin, you know, is a little emotional too… Caitlin’s really fun-loving. When we have a big win, or, she really loves Chit-Chat’s play, she thinks she’s really fun. So she’s texting me about her sometimes… just a lot about life, how’s she doing, about my kids, or whatever… you know who’s in your corner and who isn’t. Kelsey, asked about what it was like to rejoin the team after recovering post-game 5: “A lot of crying, a lot of emotion… I wanted to be back with my family, and they made me feel loved, and I hope they know that I love them, because… when I was on the floor, I think back to Aliyah Boston kind of praying over me, I think back to Lexie Hull holding my hand, I think back to Bri Turner, she kept telling me my legs were going to eventually move. That radiation of love… I can honestly say I’d go to war with them in any kind of day.” 💕

Iowa is ‘really good:’ “They’re really good because they’re really well-balanced. Their post players are really good. They’re smart. They’re tough. They finish around the basket. They make 8 or 9 threes a game. So it’s a good team that can do two things really well. They can score with their bigs in the lane, and their transition offense is really, really, really good. A lot of times when you have a great transition offense, you’re not throwing the ball in the lane a lot. But I think they’re going to be a real challenge, a real test for us to see how good our defense really is. And especially our post defense. They’re really good though. They’re really good.”

Kara asked about Caitlin after Day 1: “This is the first time I’ve spent any time with her. She’s a terrific player, really locked in and focused. The conversation I had with her pre-practice was that this was going to be one of the most fun experiences she’s had, because everyone at this level loves the game. Like a LOT… I thought she looked good, on both ends, and I thought that she hadn’t missed a beat. So I thought she looked good tonight.”
