Sophie Cunningham says she is considering retiring from professional basketball and the WNBA at the end of the season following the altercation with DiJonai Carrington: “We are all women. We should support each other, protect each other and treat each other like sisters. We should take each other’s hands instead of constantly tearing each other down. Society is already divided enough, and it’s heartbreaking to see players treating one another like enemies. After what happened, I cried in my room for an entire day. It affected me more than people realize. I thought about whether this is still the life I want. For the first time, I seriously considered that retiring from professional basketball at the end of the season might be best for me.”
