'Dhurandhar actor detained in protests' is a line I'd never think I would read or write. Bravo, Ayesha

*Allahu Akbar in Sholay, and what it says about (d)evolution of our cinema* The #Sholay theatre watch was supposed to be a simple, fun evening. But then, this scene arrived. Ramgarh village finds itself in conflict about whether Jai-Veeru can stay there anymore. Imaam Saheb, who has just lost his son, says that it's better to die respectfully than live with shame. The entire village is compelled to self-respect, and then 'Allahu Akbar' plays in the background. As Imaam Saheb walks away towards the mosque, the village looks at him, speechless. He has quietly solved a problem after facing the biggest loss of his life. I had goosebumps. This is what our cinema was about. Religion was always used as a guiding light, as a positive force. Never to divide. What have we become?

It's a very small touch.. nothing too extraordinary, maybe.. but I am so glad this song stretch in the climax had no percussions (unlike the album version).. It really adds to the silence, the emotion.. you can actually hear the 'baali ki jhanak'.. subconsciously, it adds so much

How did we allow this song to be so cruelly forgotten over time?

So 2 days ahead of the release, Imtiaz Ali makes a gutting political statement with this video.

Vote for Asrani ji. Just notice the subtlety which he expresses a sense of shock. Any other actor would've overdone it.. but here, if you pay attention, you can still hear the slight lump in his throat when he says "ye tera ghar hai... yaad dilaane ka bahut shukriya"

When Kubrick said, "movies should move like music," he wasn't thinking about Rahman who moves music like movies. We hit a crescendo, slowly cascading to a gentle note.. reaching a point where we hear nothing else but piano, only to rise again with overwhelming power.
