WATCH: Chairman French Hill in support of H.R. 5396: “It's Congress and the executive branch through their regulatory revenue policy spending decisions that have a dramatic and significant influence over the growth of the economy and labor market conditions. … Inflation is a tax on everyone, all of us. Yet it does not tax everyone equally. It disproportionately punishes and hurts the poor and minority communities more. Which then begs the question, why don't more of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle consider supporting the Price Stability Act, the very legislation that marginalized communities would benefit financially from the most if we were successful in targeting inflation and not have it run rampant as it does periodically, most recently in the late 2020 to 2022 time frame.” 📺⬇️

WATCH: Chairman French Hill questions Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on the importance of community banks, to which the Secretary responded: “It’s Main Street’s turn, and essential for Main Street’s having its turn are the small and community banks. And I would note that, thanks to onerous regulation, and as you and I both say, community and small banks became too small to succeed. Tragically, more than 50% of community banks have disappeared since the great financial crisis. Not during, since, there have been virtually no de novo banks created, whereas before the GFC there were more than 50 per year. And small and community banks not only are the anchor for community-based lending, but they provide the bulk of the lending for agriculture, for small real estate loans, and for small business loans. So, a thriving community bank infrastructure and ecosystem is essential.” 📺⬇️

WATCH: Chairman French Hill on the urgency to pass the CLARITY Act and establish a digital asset market structure: "We are here at Federal Hall in New York to hold a field hearing to commemorate the one-year anniversary of passing CLARITY with 78 Democratic votes last summer. ...We need CLARITY in place because of a key point I always make: if you have GENIUS and dollar-backed stablecoin, which President Trump signed into law last July, but you do not have a market structure bill, you have passed authorization to have a cellphone but no cell network.
