![A Nikke OST every day for a year, day 16. “[True]Entertainment” Red Mustang was a very fun character to observe, even with his short time in Nikke’s story. In a sick way, I almost got excited every single time he showed up on screen, just wondering what he would do next, what evil, malicious, petty, and greedy task he would concoct. Characters as unapologetically greedy as Red Mustang are very fun to watch in stories, assuming they are well-written, of course. His greed fuels his actions. Who needs a sob story of a backstory when your own personal goals are all the fuel you need to abuse and manipulate your way to whatever your next desire is? He indulges in the worst desires of humanity, as in general, his character is meant to be a mirror to the entertainment industry, the evil and vile things that happen behind closed doors. That is why his main motivation in the story is not something terribly grand, just whatever his whim at the moment was. Whatever benefited him was the only choice that made sense to him, morals be damned. It’s a very fun spin on villain writing and what makes him so compelling to many people. In a world of villains with sad and complex stories, he’s the only one who doesn’t really need any of it and still benefits. On to the music side, this song is really fun, as it’s basically normal Mustang’s theme distorted as much as possible. It features a deep voice for the rather insidious vocals, which makes sense considering Red Mustang’s deeper voice, at least compared to the one we knew up until this point. A Nikke OST every day for a year, day 23. “THE REDHOOD” "The glass slipper is no more" "Part's Over" *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* Listen, there are a lot of reasons why Red Hood is legendary, the legacy she has left behind, her unmatched power, her unlimited determination... but most of all, what makes her legendary to me is in the context of this scene: Pinning Cinderella to a wall with her very big anti-material-looking rifle with glass slippers in between the rifle and Cinderella, then proceeding to blow past glass slippers in 2 shots, then point-blank hitting Cinderella in the chest. There is not another Nikke in that world who 1. is allowed to defy gun physics as much as Red Hood and 2. could get away with doing that to Cinderella. absolutely crazy work from her. As normal, Cosmograph directed and produced this song, (His channel also has the far better music video for this song lmao). NieN is credited with being the Composer/Arranger, but I somewhat wonder if he was behind the guitar on this track... the credits are not very specific on this one. The singer/vocals were done by Djerv (who is a metal/rock band!)
