The combination of gusting winds, consequential shots and tough greens is making for a proper US Open style test out there at Aronimink, but these guys have got to play faster. 5 and a half to 6 hour rounds are just unacceptable. As Brooks said: “start stroking guys.”

Scottie Scheffler spoke ahead of the Cadillac Championship about what it would mean if he were to complete the Career Grand Slam at the US Open in a few weeks: “Yeah, I would love to be able to win the US Open. It's a tournament that I love. I love my country, I would love to be able to win my National Open. And I've had some success at that tournament before and I think it suits my style of game. I'm excited to go to Shinnecock this year and hopefully get it done.” If he were to lift the US Open trophy at Shinnecock in June, he would join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only players to complete the Career Grand Slam. After the round he was asked what he’s going to work on ready for round 2 and he gave an answer his Dad would be proud of: “I would say I'd go hit balls, but I'm a little tired so I'm just probably going to go to the beach and probably do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day.” Like father, like son! John Daly II shot a bogey free 5 under par 67 in the 2nd round of the Puerto Rico Open to be T7 heading to the weekend on his PGA Tour debut. He said after the round: “It's awesome. This place has always been one of my favorites, like I said earlier, to come watch my dad play back in the day, so it's pretty cool to make it to the weekend.” He said about being in contention: “Honestly, go out there and try to go a low as I can. I got nothing to lose, so just go out there and have fun and just keep doing what I'm doing.” What happens at the weekend, this is a really impressive PGA Tour debut 👏 PGA TOUR

Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf is an obvious blow to the league. But, it would be a considerably bigger blow if Bryson DeChambeau were to do the same. Bryson is contracted through the end of 2026, but he’s currently in discussions to extend early. Speaking exclusively to Tom Hobbs from Flushing It Golf, he spoke about the current situation: “I mean, look, it's confidential. I’m not going to share too much, but the conversations are in process. We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another. It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides. “And, I think that can happen, but you never know. Life throws curve balls and, obviously, we saw what happened today (Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf) and that was quite a shock to a lot of people and something that, you know, it is what it is. “People make decisions for whatever their needs and wants are and, ultimately, you have to respect it and move on and it feels like it was a mutual understanding and that's great. “I think that as a league now we have more opportunity to make some movements and I think that team has an opportunity to do some things differently than the past few seasons. So, we'll see where it all goes and where it all leads. Ultimately, it's quite interesting.” It certainly is interesting. Throughout the season, LIV Golf officials were trying desperately to convince media members that Brooks was happy and committed to the league and his franchise, when perhaps they were actually just trying to convince themselves. So, were the players aware he felt this way and did they expect the news to come so soon, before the end of his current contract? “There was always rumblings, but ultimately, it was a shock when I saw it today. I was like, whoa, all right, well, didn't know it was going to happen today. I didn't have that on my bingo card for the 23rd of December. “There's also, people can look at it as an opportunity. I always look at it as when one door closes another opens, right? And, I'm not going to speak for LIV, but I think that's what we're thinking of, at least from my perspective. If I was running the league, I'd look at it as an opportunity, not in a negative or positive way. It's just, it is what it is, right?” Bryson makes an interesting point. Brooks was never really committed to his captaincy of Smash GC or building a franchise, so perhaps a change of leadership and the opportunity that offers is actually a positive. There’s no point in having a big name player on the league if he’s not even prepared to wear his own team branding. So, now that Brooks has officially left, does Bryson think Brooks should be allowed back onto the PGA Tour? “I don't know, man. I don't know what they should allow or not… If they're going to be doing it by the book, they should do it by the book and not give any special exemption. But if there's a special exemption, it definitely opens the doors for others to do the same, which, you know, it's a slippery slope for sure.” Currently, no official pathway back to the PGA Tour for Brooks Koepka has been announced. So, any decision that is made will definitely be something all players on the LIV Golf League will be paying very close attention to. Follows on in a quote of this post. Sergio Garcia won the Masters in 2017 in a dramatic playoff victory against Justin Rose, but he’s missed 6 out of 7 cuts at Augusta National since. Ahead of this years tournament he gave a blunt answer about where his game is at: “Not super happy at the moment, but we're working, and we'll see. We'll see what happens throughout the week. Yeah, at the moment I'm not feeling amazing.” It’s refreshing to hear a professional golfer be so honest about their chances. Hopefully he can find some form this week and roll back the years. Bryson DeChambeau hasn’t played since the Ryder Cup and he won’t be again until LIV Golf Riyadh in February. He says he’s been speed training through the off season though and has a target of reaching a comfortable 200mph ball speed. He’s also been playing table tennis with America’s number 1, Kanak Jha. Speaking to Tom Hobbs from Flushing It Golf, Bryson said: “I’m not playing until Riyadh. I’m going to be going in hot though. I’m sneaky working on my game really hard. “I'm going to start ramping up my speed again. I ramped up my speed in November, got it to where I was pumping over 190 quite efficiently with some slow golf balls and stuff. I got to 200 quite a bit. “I haven’t done much recently though. I was playing some ping pong actually the past couple of days with the number one USA player, Kanak Jha. He's so much fun. Ping Pong is my favourite sport, so I got to learn a little bit from the best in the U.S. He’s twenty first in the world. So nobody's really gotten that high from the U.S. which is sweet. “But I'll get back to speed training right after Christmas and going into the new season, I want to be close to 200. So that's my goal. I’ll just get to a place where I’m super comfortable swinging fast.” The last time Bryson went after speed he gained an enormous amount of mass. He’s come back down through the weights though over the last few seasons and is much healthier for it. But, if Force = Mass x Acceleration, will he look to add more mass again and what’s more important, increasing acceleration or gaining mass? “They're both very important. If you don't have any mass, you can't accelerate it. It's a symbiotic relationship. It's actually more like F equals M V squared, that’s more of the velocity side of it. “You can accelerate too, but what I would say is the most important thing is it's not necessarily the mass or the acceleration, it’s the ability to put pressure onto the club. So you're able to apply pressure and control that through your grip strengths around a circle, that's probably the more important piece. Applying controlled pressure to the golf club like grip pressure. “It's not that you just accelerate the club, because you have to learn how to control the face through that motion as well. So it's all, you know, you can say it's acceleration, but it's a lot of grip pressure stuff. The more you control the grip pressure and how you're moving that grip, I would say that’s more the answer to your question. “And I guess at a certain point there’s dimishning return with, you know, going up in the mass and even down in the mass. There is a sweet spot for swinging a golf club. If you get a speedstick, there's just not enough mass behind it to create the smash factor necessary, and vice versa if it is too heavy, you can’t swing it that fast. “I'll always say swinging and accelerating the club is probably the most important, but the real answer is applying the most pressure to the golf club. The grip pressure. You’re not gripping it tighter, but your hand force into it pulling it and then throwing it around the corner.” Continues in comments thread below. Bryson DeChambeau shot a final round 65 to finish 3rd at LIV Golf Korea, just 1 shot out of the playoff. He said after the round that the improvement was due to the work he did with Gemini AI after the 71 on Saturday: “Yeah, the beginning of the first round I felt great. Golf swing felt in sync and then it started getting out of sync and it felt like my hands were getting ahead of me. It continued that way for the next two rounds, and it was very frustrating. “I spent some long hours on the range trying to figure some stuff out and I was talking to AI quite a bit last night trying to go through some different physics principles that makes the club turn over, having some alpha torque and gamma torque put in there. I was like, what makes that possibly do that, and was talking about just grip pressure and tension. “So I came out here today with just a little bit more freer hands, and I felt the club a lot better, and I felt like I could close the club a lot more effectively and then I started striping it. “From then on out, I was able to kind of control it. Still missed some wedges to the right coming in, which is kind of frustrating, but that's just me holding on a little bit rather than just letting it go. “I feel like I'm on the right path now, and I had it okay in the first round, but really felt it -- I felt really good this round. I felt better than I did in the first round, which is a good trend. “Hopefully it continues, and I'm just continuing to learn. That's the thing; this game is so brutal. Missing two cuts at the majors and you feel like you're golden going in there, won a couple events and playing well, and this game can kick you when you're at your highest. “It goes for all of us, not just me. It's everybody here. Everybody wants to win. “I think that's the beautiful part about golf is that it can kick you when you're at your highest or it can bring you up when you're at your lowest, and yet we have to respect the game for that. “So I felt great. Didn't feel great in the middle of the tournament, but then the last round today I felt a lot better. “I'm proud of the way I persevered to finish third without really anything.” And then spoke about the Gemini assisted practice session he had at 8pm: “I was slamming the club in the ground trying to figure out what to do. I was frustrated. Been trying everything in my body. I didn't actually figure it out on the range. I went back and started talking to Gemini and trying to figure out just what it could be to passively make the club turn over. Hands just felt like they were moving forward like this and I couldn't get the club to turn over. Even if I tried to stop it here, it still wouldn't turn over. “So I left kind of frustrated and learned later that night that I just needed to relax my grip pressure and let the thing just fold over naturally. “I'm still working it out. I don't have the answer.” The solo 3rd was a good bounce back from a disappointing missed cut at the PGA Championship. He’ll now head to Valderrama next week for LIV Golf Andalucia before attempting to win his 3rd US Open at the historic Shinnecock Hills in a few weeks. Bryson DeChambeau Crushers GC LIV Golf

After rounds of 68, 72 and 67, Patrick Reed is just 1 shot off the lead at the PGA Championship. After the third round, he gave probably the best description of the challenges of Aronimink yet: “Oh, man. The thing is I don't see Shinnecock in it at all. Yeah, you see the slopes on the greens. You see slopes at Shinnecock. But there are so many flags this week that are either right on a crown or right in a valley where the ball -- I mean, just if the ball's two feet from the hole, it could go a complete different direction, or it could go from straight uphill to downhill. It makes it so hard on putting. “I mean, the rough -- the rough is almost -- I mean, I can't really say a U.S. Open. I mean, it's close. I've had a couple lies I've stood there and I can only advance 50, 60 yards. But then you get some that sit up. “It's just different. I mean, I think that's the easiest way. It's a different challenge, and that's the cool thing about it is it's on its own. “But the great thing about all the golf courses we play, no matter where it is, whatever major championship we're playing, if you're hitting the ball well and you're putting well, you're going to be able to handle anything. We're the best players in the world, so when they throw a really hard challenge at us, that's when the top players are going to show up.” Patrick hasn’t played since the Masters, so he’s going to be fresh heading into the final round. Given the tough set up and just how good his short game is, he will thrive in contention tomorrow and has a great chance to claim his second major championship title. PGA Championship

Anthony Kim delivered an incredible press conference after shooting a bogey free 10 under par 62 to finish T6 at LIV Golf Virginia and climb inside the top 200 in the world for the first time since 2012. “I don't give a shit what anybody thinks about me. I work hard. I stay with my family. Happy Mother's Day, Emily. To my mom, to all the moms that work hard, sacrifice for their children. “Yeah, I don't give a shit. This is what I do. I'm going to continue to keep working hard and keep getting better and see whatever happens.” He then was asked if 2026 AK could beat 2010 AK and he responded: “That's a good question. 2010 me might not have shown up. So I like this one better.” He then was asked about the support he’s received from the US fans this week: “Man, it's unbelievable. Obviously I played some decent golf 20 years ago where a few people knew who I was, but the amount of support I'm getting from people, not only from golfers, but people outside of golf fighting their own issues, because we all have them, has been nothing short of amazing. “I really can't believe how many people are influenced by me just trying to play golf. I know I'm very blessed to do it. So that's why it's on me to keep working hard.” AK also helped secure the team title for 4 Aces GC after Dustin Johnson picked AK over himself to play in the playoff. AK then hit an incredible recovery shot out of the wet rough with a fairway wood to set up a par and hole the winning putt. Whatever happens with LIV Golf in the future, Anthony Kim’s comeback has been a generational story and long may it continue👊 Anthony Kim 4Aces GC LIV Golf

41 year old PGA Professional Ben Kern shot a 3 under par 67, the tied 2nd lowest round of the tournament so far, to comfortably make the cut at the PGA Championship. Ben is the GM of Hickory Hills GC outside Columbus and says he plays “once a week” with the members, playing off a +6 handicap. After playing well at the 2018 PGA Championship, he said he felt like he finally belonged after spending 6 years “chasing it” on mini tours when he left college: “Yeah, it just tells me, it shows me, it proves to myself that I can hang with these guys when I'm playing solid, and it was really nice. I felt good yesterday, didn't put up a good score, but the game's -- I hung my head high yesterday, and I had a goal today and I surpassed it.” He went on to say: “I spent a good amount of time five, six years after college chasing it, Q-School, mini-tours, and then got married and got in the business. Once I did that, I'm pretty happy with it. “I am not one to want to practice all the time, so the week in, week out grind doesn't really appeal to me anymore. So I'm very happy with what I'm doing.” Ben is currently the leader in total birdies for the tournament and no matter what happens this weekend, he will have one awesome story to tell his members back home. PGA Professionals are the lifeblood of the game and it’s awesome to see them performing on one of the biggest stages in the sport alongside the world’s best players. PGA Championship

Cameron Young is playing with a golf ball that would allegedly be compliant with the new roll back rules that will come into effect in a few years time. He was asked about it ahead of the PGA Championship and he says every player in the game is sacrificing distance for control, and he put it in play at the Wyndham last year which he won. “I think I put it in play the same reason that everybody else plays the ball that they play. I hit it during a ball test, one of the Titleist facilities probably close to two years ago and didn't know anything about it and just kind of say, hey, what's that one? Because I liked the flight. “Then as things progressed, I was able to test it last year at Wyndham, able to put that in play, and it's been there since. “Obviously there is no conforming list. I wasn't aware that it would have -- I suppose I read something that said it passed that test, but I wasn't aware of that until very recently. “So at no point was that a consideration. It was just really me trying to optimize my golf, and it's the ball that seems to work the best for me.” He then was asked whether he lost distance with it compared to other balls he’s tested: “Not particularly. I don't think any of us are out really here playing the ball that goes the farthest. I think you'd struggle to find a single person that's doing that. We're all sacrificing a certain amount of things that we feel are worth it, control with irons, control with wedges. For me, that's the biggest thing is being able to control spin, and this is the ball that does the best for me.” Finally he can as asked whether this ball goes further than the one he was using: “No, I hit very similar, yeah. It's much more -- the driver is kind of the easiest thing to deal with, I feel like. For me to get it where it needed to be, I had to just add a little bit of spin, and it kind of comes out at a perfectly playable range. “For me, the biggest thing, like I said, is the irons. This ball is easier to control with the irons. It doesn't spin as much, and it just allows me to be better with my distance control just because it's more consistent.” The golf ball rollback has been a hugely controversial subject but Cameron Young is currently using one that’s compliant and he is playing the best golf of his career. This gives the best idea yet on what impact, or lack of it, the new rules will actually have on the sport. PGA Championship
