Eagles/Bears 2022: The Last Win in Chicago. The last time these two teams met in Chicago Jalen Hurts dropped 315 passing yards and ran in 3 TDs, while the Eagles defense lived in the backfield with 6 sacks on Justin Fields. It was also the game Hurts quietly injured his shoulder as he finished the game without showing it as he then missed the next two weeks as the Eagles were fighting for the 1 seed. AJ Brown went for 181 yards, DeVonta added 126, and the Eagles left Chicago with a 25–20 win.

It’s official, no Mike Evans this week vs the Eagles. I know Quinyon Mitchell will be disappointed by this as he and Evans went at it last year with Evans telling him he didn’t know who he was. Then he went to the sidelines and said Mitchell had the most juice out of anyone on the defense when they played last year. Guess we will have to wait until the next matchup to see if Evans knows who Mitchell is now.

This time last year, AJ Brown wanted Eagles fans to chant “Aye-Yo” at the Linc which is short for “Always Open.” The other day, he used it as his final sign-off and got the exact opposite reaction from fans as expected. Looks like that’s how he always wanted to be remembered here: not for wins, championships, or team success, but for letting everyone know that no matter the play call, he was always open. Guess this is why Sirianni said yesterday “Not in this sport can we can it alone. If you want to do it alone, you have to pick another sport.” Funny how quickly things can change in a year.

This DeJean Pick 6 almost never happened as on the 2nd day of the draft the Eagles were looking to trade up and draft him but before they could the Rams traded up the and Lurie/Roseman were convinced it was for DeJean with them both saying “that’s it.” To their surprise DeJean wasn’t the pick and they were immediately excited to trade up with Howie getting on the phone to DeJean saying: “Cooper, it’s Howie Roseman brother. You’re a f***ing Eagle.”

As Eagles Eric showed last week, DeVonta Smith cooked Deonte Banks and was WIDE open on the Jahan Dotson TD as had his man on the ground. And of course Slim Reaper had to show the sideline receipts of just how open he was 😂 He’s hyped Jahan scored… but you can tell he thought that TD was his all day long as he said “I’m still looking up for it.”

Not sure everyone caught it, but Sunday we witnessed a weird slice of Eagles history: Braden Mann’s –34 yard run is now officially the longest negative run in franchise history. To mark the occasion, I dug up a few other all time “negative runs” in Eagles history so enjoy: 2025: Braden Mann -34 yards 2020: Adrian Killins -12 yards 2002: Todd Pinkston -15 yards 1992: Fred Barnett -15 yards

Pretty interesting story from Tyrann Mathieu (Tyrann Mathieu) on his podcast. He said he came very close to signing with the Eagles in 2022, but ultimately decided to go home and sign with New Orleans instead. Just a few weeks before the 2022 season, the Eagles traded for C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a move that very well could’ve gone to Mathieu had he chosen Philly. What’s even crazier is the Eagles wound up facing Mathieu’s former team, the Chiefs, in the Super Bowl, which is why he said it would’ve been his “get back game.” Makes you wonder how different things might’ve looked if he’d picked Philadelphia instead.

Cowboys fans love asking “why start at 2000?” any time you compare how these franchises have stacked up. Then, in the same breath, they want to drag the argument back to the 60s to talk about rings. So let’s be real, why is 2000 the cutoff? Because that’s when the modern era of both organizations actually begins. Jeffrey Lurie didn’t take over until the mid-90s. Before him, the Eagles were a poorly run franchise letting Reggie White walk, playing on a literal hazard of a field, and operating with no real infrastructure. Those old failures mean NOTHING about who the Eagles are today. And here’s the part Cowboys fans really don’t want to hear: The salary cap wasn’t even introduced until 1994 which means Dallas won 4 of their 5 Super Bowls before the modern NFL even existed. Since the cap era became real? They haven’t come close. Lurie built a model organization: elite front office, elite cap management, elite culture. The Gold Standard. And the results speak for themselves. Since 2000: • Eagles: 4 SB appearances, 2 rings • Cowboys: 0 Organizations wins championships. Circuses get the attention. I know exactly which one I’d rather root for. Top 10 Defensive Plays vs Dallas since 2000:

Eagles/Bucs 2002 NFC Championship Game: If you told me I could bet on this game after these 2 plays in the first minute of the game I would have put my entire bank account on the Eagles making the Super Bowl. Sadly, the other 59 minutes went the complete opposite direction for the Eagles and they closed out the Vet with one of their most disappointing losses in franchise history. No crowd in Philly will ever be as loud as this so for all the bad I will always remember this opening minute of the game.

You are going to hear a lot about Hurts/Sirianni being 1-4 vs Tampa Bay but there is one major factor missing to that: AJ Brown didn’t play in any of the 4 losses and was a monster in the one game he did play in which was an easy Eagles win. The only time AJ has played the Bucs as an Eagle was in 2023 when he had 9 catches for 131 yard as the Eagles handled the Bucs 25-11. Here are some of his best plays from that game to remind us how he can destroy this same Bucs defense:

Slay (Darius Slay) was traded for a 3rd and 5th round pick back in 2020 and Howie and the Eagles sure got their moneys worth. Slay was a Pro Bowl corner in 3 of his 5 years in Philly while becoming a Captain of a Super Bowl winning team. Here are his 5 best plays as an Eagle: 5. Lions Fumble TD 2021 in his first game back in Detroit 4. Packers Playoff INT in 2024 3. Pats Pick 6 in 2023 2. Saints Pick 6 in 2021 1. Broncos Fumble TD in 2021

They say the best coaches are the best teachers and nobody embodies that more than Vic Fangio and his defensive staff. Thanks to Hard Knocks, we got a behind the scenes look at the defensive game plan in their meetings, and goal #1 was crystal clear: stop Josh Allen. One coach even pointed out that Allen can get careless with the ball in the rain and sure enough, the only turnover of the game happened for that exact reason:

Eagles/Chiefs Super Bowl LIX (2024): Just two years after one of the most painful losses in franchise history, the Eagles got their rematch with the Chief, this time with KC chasing a three peat. Instead, Philly delivered one of the most dominant performances the Super Bowl has ever seen. The offense struck early, but the defense stole the show: 6 sacks on Patrick Mahomes, 2 interceptions, and a Cooper DeJean Pick 6 that broke the game wide open. After a 4th down stop, Jalen Hurts delivered “The Dagger” to DeVonta Smith to make it 34–0 and an all time statement on the biggest stage. The final was Eagles 40-22 and Super Bowl Champs. The 2nd title in franchise history as they put up a legitimate case as one of the greatest teams ever.
