It’s official, no Mike Evans this week vs the Eagles. I know Quinyon Mitchell will be disappointed by this as he and Evans went at it last year with Evans telling him he didn’t know who he was. Then he went to the sidelines and said Mitchell had the most juice out of anyone on the defense when they played last year. Guess we will have to wait until the next matchup to see if Evans knows who Mitchell is now.

The whole pod from New Heights with Stoutland was great and all Eagles fans should listen. Here was another clip I enjoyed: Jeff Stoutland about his time in Philadelphia: “We are absolutely in the love with the city of Philadelphia. We love living here, we aren’t going to live anywhere else, forever.” About the fans: “You can’t trick the people in Philly, everyone goes to the game and everyone watches it. You’re not conning anyone, they know who’s playing hard, who’s not playing hard, so if you don’t do that…hold your a** man.”

Phillips wasn’t the only one who wanted BG to break out the dance. On Hard Knocks, Nick Sirianni was caught doing it on the sideline, and D-line coach Clint Hurtt joined in too. At this point the whole team wants in as it’s easily the best Eagles celebration going right now.

Eagles/Bucs 2002 NFC Championship Game: If you told me I could bet on this game after these 2 plays in the first minute of the game I would have put my entire bank account on the Eagles making the Super Bowl. Sadly, the other 59 minutes went the complete opposite direction for the Eagles and they closed out the Vet with one of their most disappointing losses in franchise history. No crowd in Philly will ever be as loud as this so for all the bad I will always remember this opening minute of the game.

This DeJean Pick 6 almost never happened as on the 2nd day of the draft the Eagles were looking to trade up and draft him but before they could the Rams traded up the and Lurie/Roseman were convinced it was for DeJean with them both saying “that’s it.” To their surprise DeJean wasn’t the pick and they were immediately excited to trade up with Howie getting on the phone to DeJean saying: “Cooper, it’s Howie Roseman brother. You’re a f***ing Eagle.”

Eagles/Chiefs Super Bowl LIX (2024): Just two years after one of the most painful losses in franchise history, the Eagles got their rematch with the Chief, this time with KC chasing a three peat. Instead, Philly delivered one of the most dominant performances the Super Bowl has ever seen. The offense struck early, but the defense stole the show: 6 sacks on Patrick Mahomes, 2 interceptions, and a Cooper DeJean Pick 6 that broke the game wide open. After a 4th down stop, Jalen Hurts delivered “The Dagger” to DeVonta Smith to make it 34–0 and an all time statement on the biggest stage. The final was Eagles 40-22 and Super Bowl Champs. The 2nd title in franchise history as they put up a legitimate case as one of the greatest teams ever.

Not sure everyone caught it, but Sunday we witnessed a weird slice of Eagles history: Braden Mann’s –34 yard run is now officially the longest negative run in franchise history. Cowboys fans love asking “why start at 2000?” any time you compare how these franchises have stacked up. Then, in the same breath, they want to drag the argument back to the 60s to talk about rings. So let’s be real, why is 2000 the cutoff? Because that’s when the modern era of both organizations actually begins. Jeffrey Lurie didn’t take over until the mid-90s. Before him, the Eagles were a poorly run franchise letting Reggie White walk, playing on a literal hazard of a field, and operating with no real infrastructure. Those old failures mean NOTHING about who the Eagles are today. And here’s the part Cowboys fans really don’t want to hear: The salary cap wasn’t even introduced until 1994 which means Dallas won 4 of their 5 Super Bowls before the modern NFL even existed. Since the cap era became real? They haven’t come close. Lurie built a model organization: elite front office, elite cap management, elite culture. The Gold Standard. And the results speak for themselves. Since 2000: • Eagles: 4 SB appearances, 2 rings • Cowboys: 0 Organizations wins championships. Circuses get the attention. Eagles/Raiders 2005: The Akers Limp Kick Game The Eagles came into this one beat up, especially at QB and Kicker. Donovan McNabb was battling a groin injury and David Akers had a bad hamstring which he re-aggravated on the opening kickoff. That injury hung over the entire game. Thankfully, Philly had Brian Westbrook (Brian Westbrook) who absolutely carried the offense with 208 total yards and 2 TDs, plus Terrell Owens, who posted 9 catches for 80 yards and a TD despite being shadowed by Hall of Famer Charles Woodson all afternoon. The Raiders tied it 20–20 late, but McNabb gutted through the pain to engineer a final drive to set up the easiest kick possible for the hobbling Akers. And in one of the gutsiest moments of his career, Akers drilled the game winner before collapsing in pain, sealing a 23–20 Eagles win.

They say the best coaches are the best teachers and nobody embodies that more than Vic Fangio and his defensive staff. Thanks to Hard Knocks, we got a behind the scenes look at the defensive game plan in their meetings, and goal #1 was crystal clear: stop Josh Allen. One coach even pointed out that Allen can get careless with the ball in the rain and sure enough, the only turnover of the game happened for that exact reason:

You are going to hear a lot about Hurts/Sirianni being 1-4 vs Tampa Bay but there is one major factor missing to that: AJ Brown didn’t play in any of the 4 losses and was a monster in the one game he did play in which was an easy Eagles win. The only time AJ has played the Bucs as an Eagle was in 2023 when he had 9 catches for 131 yard as the Eagles handled the Bucs 25-11. Here are some of his best plays from that game to remind us how he can destroy this same Bucs defense:

Eagles/Falcons 2004 NFC Championship: McNabb and Reid Finally Break Through: After three straight NFCCG losses, the #1 seeded Eagles were back for a 4th time only this game was vs a young Michael Vick and the Falcons. The defense set the tone early, sacking Vick 4 times, while McNabb and the run game powered a 14–3 1st half lead with TDs from Dorsey Levens and Chad Lewis. Atlanta briefly cut it to 14–10, but it never got closer. The Eagles’ defense slammed the door, led by Brian Dawkins whose iconic hit on Alge Crumpler set the tone for the game and he capped it with a late INT. McNabb hit Chad Lewis for his second TD and that was the final exclamation point, winning 27–10. The NFCCG losing streak is over and the cities first Super Bowl trip since 1980.

Eagles/Lions 2013: The Snow Game The most famous Eagles/Lions game was when a blizzard hit the Linc and turned this into one of the wildest games in team history. The Eagles fell behind 14–0 as snow piled up inches deep and nobody could see the yard lines. Then LeSean McCoy (LeSean Shady Mccoy) took over. Shady exploded for 217 rushing yards, breaking the franchise single game record with two long TD runs that blew the game open. Nick Foles added two clutch TD passes as the Eagles outscored Detroit 34–6 the rest of the way. Overall, the Eagles ran for 299 yards and 4 TDs as the Lions fumbled 3 times with the Eagle's winning 34-20 to help launch a 2013 NFC East title run.
