Me to the xenos and other bad guys when they say they’re tired of Space Marines. Marines ARE the franchise, they carry the entire company. Chaos only exist to give marines something to shoot at.

Fun old lore fact. What they’re talking about here, the “second in command” for a space marine squad has technically already got a name “squad leader”, they even used to have their own backbanners. Nick Bayton, chief ultramarine fan at GW, came up with a non-official way of denoting it by painting a single red stripe down the centre of the helmet, which I’ve nicked and called the Bayton stripe!
