Deputy Prime Minister /Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar today met with H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Beijing upon the invitation of the latter. The meeting was held in an exceptionally warm and cordial atmosphere, featuring hours of engagement from restricted talks to delegation-level discussions. The two sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, exchanged views on regional developments in West Asia, and discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest. As Pakistan and China commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Particular emphasis was placed on advancing high-quality development, deepening economic and strategic cooperation, including under CPEC 2.0, and enhancing high-level exchanges and collaboration across all domains. On the evolving situation in West Asia, both sides underscored their shared commitment to peace, stability, and dialogue, and issued a Five-Point Initiative aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and consistent diplomatic efforts in this regard. The two sides also reaffirmed their close coordination at multilateral fora and agreed to remain in regular and close contact. The visit once again reflected the enduring warmth, mutual trust, and iron-clad friendship that define Pakistan-China relations.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar met a group of cross-party Pakistan-origin British parliamentarians at Pakistan House, London. The parliamentarians included Lord Zameer Choudrey, Lord Qurban Hussain, Baroness Shaista Sheehan, and Lord Shaffaq Mohammed, as well as Members of Parliament Mohammad Yasin, Yasmin Qureshi, Afzal Khan, Zubir Ahmed, and Adnan Hussain. DPM/FM appreciated the important role played by the British parliamentarians in strengthening Pakistan-UK ties and their staunch advocacy for a just settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The British lawmakers lauded Pakistan’s leadership and mediation efforts in the Middle East. They said that Pakistan’s historic role had been internationally recognized and had filled all overseas Pakistanis with pride. DPM/FM shared Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives for de-escalation and peace in the Middle East. He underscored that adherence to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties was critical to achieving durable peace and stability in the region. DPM/FM also highlighted the importance of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in strengthening regional peace and stability. He stressed that the agreement was purely defensive in nature. Discussing recent developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the British parliamentarians congratulated DPM/FM on the PML-N’s victory in the recent legislative assembly elections. DPM/FM said that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir had reposed their confidence in the PML-N because of its past record of delivering economic growth and development. He said the new government would prioritize investment in infrastructure and job creation for the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Federal Government and the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir would work with other political parties and stakeholders to build consensus on important governance and constitutional issues. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on preparations for the SAF Games. In coordination with the South Asian Olympic Committee, the dates for the Games have been finalized from 4th to 11th April, 2027. The appointment of a National Coordinator and composition of the Steering, Organizing & Provincial Committees were also approved. A total of 28 sports will be contested, with over 6,000 athletes & officials expected to participate. Events will be held in Islamabad, Punjab & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Deputy Prime Minister directed all concerned to maintain close coordination, ensure timely completion of venues & uphold the highest standards for the successful hosting of the Games. He further directed the Steering Committee to meet every month to monitor progress. The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the PM on IPC, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC, representatives of the provincial governments and senior federal and provincial officials.
