A year ago today, doctors stood among the bodies of victims of the Al-Ahli blast, warning that if Israeli impunity continued, more attacks on Gaza’s hospitals would follow. Among them was surgeon Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, a firsthand witness to the blast, whose testimony was overlooked. We’ve recorded it here:

Even after the announcement of a ceasefire, reports indicate that the Israeli military is continuing to flatten the remaining residential blocks in northern Gaza, leaving displaced civilians with no homes to return to. Satellite images from January 2025 reveal widespread destruction in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun, alongside expanding tent camps in Gaza City—highlighting the mass displacement caused by the recent Israeli ground operation in northern Gaza. If a final ceasefire agreement is not reached, Israel will likely target Gaza City next with the same tactics of systematic destruction and displacement. More updates:

As Israeli forces advance into Rafah’s densely populated centre, bombing indiscriminately and targeting what little aid/medical infrastructure remains in Gaza, they are forcing the ~1.5m civilians in Rafah into a ‘humanitarian zone’ with no functioning medical infrastructure.

At the summit last week on 4 March, a new plan for Gaza’s reconstruction was presented by Arab leaders as an alternative to Trump’s plan to expel Palestinians from Gaza. Our analysis indicates that this initiative—which has gained support from the European Council—includes an architectural master plan that carries forward key elements of Israel’s designed destruction of Gaza (as addressed in our Cartography of Genocide report with its proposal for a ‘buffer zone’, security corridors, and raid routes.

NEW INVESTIGATION: Since Oct '23, the Israeli military has systematically targeted agricultural land and infrastructure in Gaza. To mark Land Day in Palestine, we present our analysis of this widespread destruction as an act of ecocide that supports Israel’s genocidal campaign.

Our analysis of satellite imagery from Nov 2023 - Jul 2024 reveals evidence of a new Israeli military corridor east of Gaza City. This new corridor is the second Israeli-built east-west passage through Gaza, after the so-called ‘Netzarim Corridor’. These corridors are infrastructural indications of an intended permanent Israeli military presence in the northern parts of the occupied Gaza Strip.

The mounting starvation in Gaza is a direct result of Israel’s dismantling of the ‘UN model’ of aid distribution and its replacement with the lethal GHF system. Israel is deliberately undermining systems of aid distribution by the UN and other international agencies: restricting the flow of aid, permitting looting in military zones, and attacking distribution centres. Just as civilians have been killed at GHF ration stations, those waiting along aid truck routes are also being targeted by the Israeli military—making every route to aid in Gaza deadly. In its defence at the CIJ_ICJ, Israel claimed it has protected civilians with ‘evacuation orders’ and ‘humanitarian/safe zones’. In the week leading up to today's ruling on provisional measures, Israel has repeatedly targeted shelters & hospitals within these humanitarian zones.

The world has witnessed two years of Israeli genocide: countless massacres, widespread displacement, engineered famine, and the annihilation of civic infrastructure. Israel has successively occupied North Gaza, Rafah, and Khan Younis, sealing them off, and razing them to the ground. Yet it has failed in its strategic aim — the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from all of Gaza. Any ceasefire must protect what remains of Gaza City, and dismantle the military corridors, so that Palestinians can return to their land. Without support for Palestinian-led reconstruction, the genocide will continue. We mapped the evolution of Israel’s two-year assault on Gaza:

NEW: With Palestine Land Society and Palestinian survivors, we uncovered new evidence of a massacre carried out by Israeli forces during the 1948 Nakba in the village of al-Dawayima. Together, we identified for the first time the likely locations of the massacre and the mass grave where those residents executed by Israeli soldiers were later buried:

Following the attack, the Israeli military attempted to conceal evidence of their crimes, and made a series of false claims about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the actors involved. Our findings conclusively refute these claims and situate this massacre in the wider context of the Israeli military’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. We also documented how in the hours, weeks, and months after the massacre, the site of the incident and surrounding area were progressively transformed by a series of military earthworks, an evacuation route, checkpoints, a military corridor, and a GHF aid distribution site.

Human remains surfaced amongst the ruins of al-Shifa after Israeli forces withdrew on 1 April. The bodies of those killed during this invasion have been bulldozed and makeshift burial grounds—including a mass grave—have been desecrated. In Gaza today, even the dead are not safe.
