In the 1980s, Pablo Escobar acquired 4 hippos from Africa and put them in his compound in Colombia. With no natural predators in Colombia, and a perfect climate, the hippos have multiplied from 4 individuals into over 150. These animals are invasive and their presence endangers local lives, waterways and species.
