Woman of God, Pastor Jessica Kayanja has a point here, and I think uncle Frank Gashumba lost the argument when he started body-shaming Pastor Robert Kayanja. Uncle stooped too low when he resorted to calling Man of God, Pastor Kayanja a “bald-headed, dyed-up fellow.” That was unnecessary and only weakened his argument. As Pastor Jessica has put it here, when you have facts on your side, you don’t need to attack someone’s physical appearance to make your point.

Actually, this is proof that Mr Gashumba’s war is no longer just about pastors, but touches on God Himself when he says he doesn’t believe in tithing and would divorce his wife if he discovered she had paid one. Without going personal but sticking to the subject at hand, we as xtians know that tithing is rooted in scripture and in fact Malachi 3:10 calls on believers to bring their tithes into the storehouse, while Proverbs 3:9 instructs us to honour God with our wealth. Those who have supported Mr Gashumba’s personal attacks on men of God, are you equally comfortable with him threatening to divorce his wife over a religious practice she believes honours God? BTW, Gashumba is entitled to his opinion, but in his determination to fight pastors, he risks losing the very arguments he set out to make. He needs to be careful not to turn a debate about accountability into a personal war against people’s faith. Or if we are to go by this argument of his, then millions of Anglicans, Catholics and believers from other Christian denominations who practise tithing are equally being discredited for a religious conviction they sincerely hold.

I’m no economics expert, and it certainly wasn’t a subject I excelled at during my HSC days, but I find this argument by my brother rather questionable. He argues that the government, through the BOU, can simply declare that the dollar is worth UGX 3,700 instead of UGX 4,000 to stabilise the shilling. Economists, is this argument economically sound? Can a central bank simply dictate an exchange rate, or must the economic fundamentals support it?

Wat yo doing is one ov the oldest tricks in victim-blaming: put the victim’s xter on trial so we can conveniently stop asking qtns abt the perpetrator’s actions. Guy wange, even if Hanifa had multiple men as u allege, infidelity is not a death sentence, and it certainly isn’t a justification for pouring acid on someone. You can condemn cheating without excusing violence as yo doing. The issue is simple: a person’s alleged moral failures do not give another person the right to permanently destroy their body or life. Stop putting the victim on trial to make the perpetrator’s alleged actions look less monstrous. No one deserves what Hanifa went through.
